NCAA Game Summary - Arkansas at Auburn
(Saturday, October 6)
Final Score: Arkansas 24, Auburn 7
Auburn, AL (Sports Network) - Dennis Johnson ran for 76 yards and a pair of touchdowns, as the Arkansas Razorbacks cruised past the Auburn Tigers, 24-7, in Southeastern Conference play from Jordan-Hare Stadium.
Tyler Wilson completed 20-of-27 passes for 216 yards to help the Razorbacks (2-4, 1-2 SEC) snap a four-game slide.
The Tigers' (1-4, 0-3) struggles on the offensive side of the ball continued as they committed five turnovers. Auburn coach Gene Chizik used three quarterbacks for the first time this season, although none of the three enjoyed much success. Emory Blake caught 10 passes for 118 yards and a TD in the setback.
Arkansas got on the board first with a two-yard touchdown run by Johnson at the 1:02 mark of the opening quarter, capping a 10-play, 80-yard drive.
Zach Hocker tacked on a 27-yard field goal midway through the second quarter, and the Razorbacks went into the half with a 10-0 lead.
Auburn scored its only points in the final minute of the third quarter, as Clint Moseley found Blake for a 21-yard touchdown pass to cut the deficit to 10-7.
However, Arkansas began to pull away in the fourth quarter. With 13:30 to play, Brandon Mitchell took a pitch and tossed a 26-yard touchdown pass to Javontee Herndon to make it a 17-7 game. Five minutes later, the Razorbacks stretched their lead to 24-7 on a two-yard TD plunge by Johnson, his second of the day.
In addition to the five takeaways, the Razorbacks defense notched eight sacks, their highest single-game total since the 2000 Cotton Bowl. All told, they finished with 11 tackles for loss on the day.
