Description: Houston right-hander Lucas Harrell will head to Triple-A Oklahoma City after passing through waivers unclaimed.
Insight: He was designated for assignment last Wednesday to make room for top prospect George Springer. Harrell (0-3) posted a 9.49 ERA in three starts before his demotion.

Description: The Astros designated Lucas Harrell for assignment to make room for George Springer on the 40-man roster.
Insight: It's not really surprising, as Harrell went 0-3 with a 9.49 ERA and a 2.27 WHIP in three starts after going 6-17 with a 5.86 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP in 153 2/3 innings last year. Jerome Williams may take his spot in the rotation.

Description: Astros pitcher Lucas Harrell will not make another start until after the All-Star break, according to Brian T. Smith of the Houston Chronicle.
Insight: Astros GM Jeff Luhnow said Harrell has been removed from the rotation to "get his mind cleared." Harrell has a 5-9 record, a 5.04 ERA and a 1.61 WHIP this season after going 11-11 with a 3.76 ERA and a 1.36 WHIP in 2012. He's walking nearly one more batter per nine innings and allowing 0.7 more homers per nine than last season.

Description: Astros starter Lucas Harrell had his best start of the season Sunday against the Royals, but he took a no decision.
Insight: Harrell allowed just two hits in seven scoreless innings. Even though he has given up one earned run over his last two starts, Harrell still has a 4.52 ERA and a 1.60 WHIP.
4/29/2013 10:16:00 PM
Description: Astros starter Lucas Harrell gave up eight hits but limited the Yankees to one run in 6 1/3 innings Monday night to improve to 3-2.
Insight: Harrell's ERA is 3.60, but it's due in large part to an unsustainable 86 percent strand rate. Harrell's WHIP is 1.54, and his FIP is 5.11.
8/4/2012 10:38:00 PM
Description: Astros starter Lucas Harrell improved to 9-7 and lowered his ERA below 4.00 for the first time since late May with a quality start Saturday against Atlanta.
Insight: Harrell (9-7, 3.98) has allowed two earned runs or less in seven of his last eight starts to lower his ERA from 5.07 to 3.98 in that span. The right-hander doesn't rack up strikeouts and walks too many batters but he's still a solid option in NL-only formats.
7/24/2012 11:09:00 PM
Description: Astros starter Lucas Harrell has a 2.03 ERA over his last six starts, including a dominant effort Tuesday against the Reds.
Insight: Harrell (7-7, 4.07) allowed one run in seven innings Tuesday but he had to take a no decision when Francisco Cordero blew a save. Harrell is worth a look in NL-only leagues.
6/27/2012 10:10:00 PM
Description: Astros starter Lucas Harrell handled San Diego Wednesday in his first career complete game.
Insight: Harrell shut out the Padres on six hits and four walks while fanning seven. The right-hander has allowed one run on eight hits and seven walks in 16 innings over his last two starts, both against light-hitting ballclubs. Despite his recent success, he's nothing more than a spot starter to use when he's throwing at home (5-1, 1.99 ERA in seven starts at Minute Maid Park this season).
