Giants open up another lead in World Series Game 3 Detroit, MI (Sports Network) - Gregor Blanco's RBI triple highlighted a two- run top of the second that has given the surging San Francisco Giants a 2-0 lead over the Detroit Tigers through three innings of Game 3 of the World Series from Comerica Park. The Giants are attempting to further an already sizeable advantage in the series, having posted an 8-3 victory in San Francisco in Game 1 and backing it up with a 2-0 triumph in Thursday's Game 2. Ryan Vogelsong, who carried a 2-0 record and a sparkling 1.42 earned run average this postseason into the contest, has held the Tigers scoreless over the first three innings, in large part to two inning-ending double plays. Hunter Pence opened the top of the second with a walk against Detroit starter Anibal Sanchez and advanced to third on a stolen base followed by a wild pitch. Blanco then smacked a line drive into the gap in right-center field to put the Giants in front. Two batters later, Brandon Crawford delivered a single to center field that plated Blanco for a 2-0 advantage. Detroit put runners on first and second with one out in both the bottom of the first and third, but Vogelsong induced double-play grounders to Prince Fielder and Quintin Berry, respectively, to end each threat. 10/27 21:24:34 ET |
