Do not pay attention to training camp depth charts
Brandon Marshall compiled 1,265 yards and six scores last season.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
I saw these three notes on news sites around the country:
From the Kansas City Star -
"Coach Todd Haley doesn't feel the third-year receiver (Dwayne Bowe) is responding to the Chiefs' new discipline, conditioning-oriented approach. Haley is "willing to make an example to get his point across," Teicher says. "Until he figures that out, (Bowe) will be on the bench."
From the Denver Post -
"The Broncos just released their first depth chart of the 2009 season, as required by the NFL. After missing all but the first two days of full-squad workouts, Brandon Marshall has fallen out of the starting lineup. The team's top-three receivers are listed as Eddie Royal, Brandon Stokley and Jabar Gaffney.
"Correll Buckhalter is listed as the No.1 running back, followed by LaMont Jordan and then Peyton Hillis. Rookie Knowshon Moreno is listed fourth."
These are just a few examples of why you shouldn't pay attention to camp goings on - except for injuries.
No one in their right mind should think that Bowe and his 1,022 yards and seven touchdown catches won't be in the starting lineup on September 13th against the Baltimore Ravens. Or that Brandon Marshall and his 1,265 yards and six scores won't be in the Broncos' lineup. Or that Moreno will be paid millions of dollars to sit on the bench and watch Buckhalter and Jordan run.
I have Bowe listed at No.12 on my wide receiver list (RapidDraft ADP 36.1) and Marshall at No.13 (RapidDraft 38.4). No "summer camp gossip" will make me think they won't produce in 2009.
