Description: Patriots quarterback Tom Brady could face discipline for his invovlement in "Deflategate" according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Insight: The Ted Wells report didn't have definitive evidence, but one can connect the dots and figure out that Brady instructed the Patriots equipment staff to decrease the air in the footballs. It is possible that Brady will be suspended the first game of the season, which would mean the NFL opener would be without Brady and Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell. As far as fantasy, if Brady misses just one game, it should effect his preseason value.
Description: Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer (torn left ACL) was participating in drills Monday, according to an azcardinals.com report.
Insight: At this point, we fell he should be ready for the opening week. Palmer was missed by both the Cardinals and fantasy owners and his return in time for training camp would greatly increase the value of Arizona receivers and the offense in general.
Description: Browns quarterback Josh McCown will open training camp as the Browns starting quarterback according to CBS Cleveland.
Insight: Coach Mike Pettine didn't flat out say McCown will be the team's starter, but he phrased it "fair to say" McCown would be the starter. This shouldn't be a surprise. The Browns didn't draft a quarterback, McCown is due $6.25 million, and Johnny Maziel is, well, still Manziel. McCown, however, should only be drafted in very deep or two-quarterback fantasy leagues.
Jameis Winston, QB
5/4/2015 10:26:00 AM
Description: Tampa Bay Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston will not be a two-sport player a la Bo Jackson and Deion Sanders.
Insight: Winston was an FSU reliever with nine career saves, a 1.08 ERA and 0.92 WHIP, but the contract he signed in Tampa included a clause against playing baseball. He was a 12th round pick of the Texas Rangers in 2012.
Description: The New Orleans Saints drafted Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson with the No. 75 overall in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft.
Insight: So the first quarterback on Day 2 has finally been taken. This is a very interesting pick. The Saints had salary cap issues in March that led to the team losing Jimmy Graham and Kenny Stills. They did sign running back C.J. Spiller, but this team is rebuilding and has seemingly found Drew Brees' replacement. Brees is 36 and probably has just two or three really good years left.
Marcus Mariota, QB
4/30/2015 8:31:00 PM
Description: The Tennessee Titans selected Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota with the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Insight: The question everyone was wondering has been answered as Mariota is a Tennessee Titan although that doesn't mean he will stay in Tennessee. It's still possible the Eagles, Jets or Bears could trade with the Titans for Mariota. For now, Mariota is in Nashville, and he will be competing with Zach Mettenberger for the starting quarterback position in Ken Whisenhunt's offense.
Jameis Winston, QB
4/30/2015 8:28:00 PM
Description: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft.
Insight: This was expected. Winston won the Heisman Trophy his freshman season in 2013 and led Florida State to another undefeated regular season in 2014. He did, however, throw 18 interceptions in his second college season, but fantasy owners have to love the fact he is throwing to receivers Vincent Jackson and Mike Evans.
Description: Chargers GM Tom Telesco went on record saying "it's out plan and intent" to keep quarterback Philip Rivers "well into the future", yet failed to answer a follow-up question which was whether he had talked to Tennessee about a possible trade.
Insight: Meanwhile, Marcus Mariota worked out with the Chargers last week. Until Telesco outright answers all of the media's questions or Rivers signs a contract extension in San Diego, the trade rumors will continue to circle.
