Cleveland Cavaliers Player Notes
For The Last 365 Days

Andrew Wiggins, G7/24/2014 4:48:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers have signed G/F Andrew Wiggins - the No. 1 pick in this year's NBA draft.
Insight: This doesn't mean he's going the play in Cleveland next season, only that the team can't trade him for 30 days. He's been rumored to be part of a deal to pry Kevin Love out of Minnesota.
Anthony Bennett, F7/13/2014 8:27:00 PM
Description: According to cleveland.com, Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett now weighs 240 pounds.
Insight: Bennett weighed in at 259 last season and may have been even heavier than that at times. The 2013 No. 1 overall pick averaged just 12.8 minutes, 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 52 games as a rookie. He'll likely be traded if the Cavs pursue Kevin Love, and joining a Love-less Minnesota would be good for his fantasy value.
LeBron James, F7/12/2014 6:04:00 PM
Description: LeBron James signed a two-year deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Insight: Cavaliers fans shouldn't worry about the short length of the deal, it's only a two-year deal because the league will have a new television deal in place for 2016 and likely a new collective bargaining agreement in 2017.
Kyrie Irving, G7/11/2014 8:03:00 PM
Description: Kyrie Irving's five-year, $90 million contract extension with the Cavaliers will include an early termination option for the 2019-20 season, according to Yahoo Sports.
Insight: Cleveland announced the extension Thursday before signing LeBron James Friday. James should help Irving become a more efficient player and draw some of the defensive pressure away from the point guard.
LeBron James, F7/11/2014 7:38:00 PM
Description: LeBron James announced in a letter on SI.com Friday that will return to the Cavaliers.
Insight: James left Cleveland for the Miami Heat four years ago and made the last four NBA Finals, winning two. Now, he'll try to bring a championship back to his hometown.
Andrew Wiggins, G6/26/2014 8:26:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers selected University of Kansas guard Andrew Wiggins with the No. 1 pick in Thursday night's NBA Draft.
Insight: The Cavs have had the No. 1 pick the last two years and have taken a player from Canada both times. Wiggins averaged 17.4 ppg as a Jayhawk last season and was also strong on the defensive end. With Wiggins on board, it's possible Cleveland will look to trade Dion Waiters, who plays the same position as Wiggins.
Jarrett Jack, G6/21/2014 5:14:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers are looking to swap Jarrett Jack for Nets guard Marcus Thornton. SOURCE: Marc Stein, ESPN
Insight: Jack has played for six teams in the last seven seasons so he must be used to the trade rumors by now. Jack's 9.5 ppg scoring average in 2014 was his lowest since 2011.
C.J. Miles, G4/16/2014 1:18:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers shooting guard C.J. Miles (ankle) will not play Wednesday, according to Bob Finnan of the News-Herald.
Insight: Miles will end up missing 26 of the final 27 games of the season with a sprained ankle. He started 34 of his 51 games and averaged 9.9 points and 1.6 threes per game.
Luol Deng, F4/14/2014 5:26:00 PM
Description: Cleveland small forward Luol Deng (back) will not play in the season finale Wednesday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Deng (16 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.9 apg) will end up missing the last three games of the season due to a sore back. He'll be a free agent when the season concludes.
Luol Deng, F4/12/2014 11:22:00 AM
Description: Cleveland small forward Luol Deng missed Friday's game with a sore back and is questionable for Saturday's game against Boston.
Insight: Deng exited Wednesday's game with the continuing back issue. The Cavaliers are eliminated from playoff contention and have no reason to push Deng to play.
Dion Waiters, SGHot4/11/2014 11:00:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers SG Dion Waiters had 23 points, four assists and five steals Friday at Milwaukee.
Insight: It has been the Dion Waiters show since Kyrie Irving's injury opened up a starting spot for him. Waiters has remained in the starting five next to Irving since he returned and averaged 21.9 ppg over his last 13 games.
Luol Deng, F4/11/2014 7:10:00 PM
Description: Cleveland small forward Luol Deng will miss Friday's game with a sore back, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Deng exited Wednesday's game with the back issue. The Cavaliers are eliminated from playoff contention and have no reason to push Deng to play.
Kyrie Irving, G4/5/2014 10:20:00 PM
Description: Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving made 16-of-31 from the field and scored a career-high 44 points Saturday against Charlotte.
Insight: Irving had four 40-point efforts in his career going into Saturday's game but never scored more than 41 points. Saturday's performance is a sign Irving is close to 100 percent after missing eight games with a biceps strain in March.
Anderson Varejao, C4/4/2014 7:06:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Anderson Varejao is active for Friday night's game against the Hawks. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: He missed a game earlier this week with a shoulder injury. It's unknown if Varejao will be on any kind of minutes restriction. Either way, it's hard to trust him with Spencer Hawes averaging 30 mpg.
Luol Deng, F4/4/2014 10:34:00 AM
Description: Cleveland small forward Luol Deng, who left Wednesday's game early due to a strained back, is expected to play on Friday.
Insight: Deng is always a good fantasy play because he plays so many minutes. He's averaging 16.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.0 spg.
Anderson Varejao, C4/3/2014 8:39:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao has a chance to play Friday against Atlanta. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: Varejao (8.6 ppg, 10.0 rpg) missed Wednesday's game after suffering a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. He hasn't been as useful to fantasy owners since the team acquired Spencer Hawes from Philadelphia at the trade deadline (7.8 ppg, 8.8 rpg for Varejao since the All-Star break).
Dion Waiters, SGHot4/2/2014 10:08:00 PM
Description: Kyrie Irving's return to the lineup from an eight-game absence Wednesday didn't slow down Dion Waiters.
Insight: Waiters had 26 points on 10-of-15 shooting (3-3 3PT) and three assists in 34 minutes after averaging 39.9 minutes, 22 points and 5.1 assists per game with Irving out of the lineup with a biceps strain. Jarrett Jack moved to the bench Wednesday but the Cavs still found 30 minutes for him.

Description: Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving (biceps) will start Wednesday against the Magic, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Irving missed the last eight games with a strained biceps. Dion Waiters has averaged 40 mpg, 22 ppg and 5.1 apg with Irving out and will remain in the starting lineup at shooting guard while Jarrett Jack moves to the bench.
Kyrie Irving, G4/2/2014 2:22:00 PM
Description: Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving (biceps) made it through the Wednesday morning shootaround, but is still a game-time decision for the game at Orlando.
Insight: Irving missed the last eight games with a strained biceps. The Cavaliers are reportedly leaning toward holding him out of Wednesday's game to give him some more time to practice, but he might be able to talk his way into the lineup. Dion Waiters has averaged 40 mpg, 22 ppg and 5.1 apg with Irving out, but he'll have significantly less value when Irving returns.
Kyrie Irving, G4/1/2014 5:15:00 PM
Description: Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving (biceps) said he felt good after practice and will determine his status for Wednesday's game at Orlando after the morning shootaround. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
C.J. Miles, G4/1/2014 5:11:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers shooting guard C.J. Miles (ankle) will miss Wednesday's game against Orlando, according to Bob Finnan of news-herald.com.

Description: Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving (biceps) has been cleared to practice, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Irving missed the last eight games with a strained biceps. Dion Waiters has averaged 40 mpg, 22 ppg and 5.1 apg with Irving out, but he'll have significantly less value when Irving returns.
Anderson Varejao, C3/31/2014 6:35:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (sprained shoulder) will miss Wednesday's game against the Magic, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Varejao (8.6 ppg, 10 rpg) has a sprained AC joint in his right shoulder. His absence will allow Spencer Hawes and Tyler Zeller to get more minutes.
Anderson Varejao, C3/30/2014 4:38:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Anderson Varejao sprained his shoulder early in Sunday's game against Indiana and is unlikely to return. SOURCE: Bob Finnan, The News-Herald
Insight: He had six points and six rebounds before exiting. Spencer Hawes (13.2 ppg, 8.3 rpg) has been playing more than Varejao anyway so this shouldn't affect many fantasy teams.
Kyrie Irving, G3/30/2014 3:37:00 PM
Description: Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving will be re-evaluated Sunday in hopes that he can return Wednesday against Orlando. SOURCE: Sam Amico, Fox Sports Ohio
Insight: Including today's game against Indiana, Irving has now missed eight contests in a row with a strained biceps. Dion Waiters (15.4 ppg) and Jarrett Jack (9.4 ppg, 4.0 apg) are sure to have their minutes cut back when Irving returns.

Insight: Irving will miss at least two more games due to his biceps injury, making eight straight absences. Dion Waiters has been enjoying his turn to start and averaged 22.8 ppg and 6.0 apg his last six games.
Luol Deng, F3/25/2014 9:39:00 PM
Description: Cleveland small forward Luol Deng had a nice outing Tuesday against Toronto.
Insight: Deng totaled 19 points, seven assists and six rebounds. The seven assists were Deng's most in a game since November 30th. Ironically, that game was against the team he now plays for.
Dion Waiters, SGHot3/25/2014 9:34:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters stayed hot with 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting Tuesday in a win against Toronto.
Insight: He also had seven assists and two blocked shots. Waiters has averaged 23.8 ppg, 6.4 apg and 3.6 rpg since Kyrie Irving went down with a biceps injury earlier this month.
Jarrett Jack, GHot3/25/2014 9:14:00 AM
Description: Cleveland guard Jarrett Jack is playing big minutes with Kyrie Irving sidelined and his scoring average over the past four games is almost double his season numbers.
Insight: That's the good news. The bad news is that he's been inconsistent on the way to the bigger statistics with a high of 31 points and a low of six points.
Jarrett Jack, G3/23/2014 10:41:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Jarrett Jack was firing on all cylinders Sunday in a win against New York.

Dion Waiters, SGHot3/22/2014 10:25:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters had 26 points, eight assists and four rebounds in 40 minutes Saturday against the Rockets.
Insight: With Kyrie Irving out, Waiters is getting a chance to flex his muscles as the team's top ballhandler. He has averaged 17.9 points and 4.0 assists his last 14 games, including 24.3 ppg and 7.7 apg as the starter the last three.
Luol Deng, F3/22/2014 4:59:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Luol Deng (ankle) will miss his third straight game Saturday against the Rockets, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Deng's sprained ankle has come at a terrible time for Cleveland, who is also playing without Kyrie Irving (biceps) and C.J. Miles (ankle). Alonzo Gee has been starting in Deng's place but doesn't offer much fantasy value. Dion Waiters will continue to be the biggest beneficiary of the injuries.
C.J. Miles, G3/22/2014 4:57:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers shooting guard C.J. Miles (ankle) will be held out of Saturday's game, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Description: Cavaliers forward Luol Deng missed his second game in a row Thursday and is questionable for Saturday's game against Houston.
Insight: He's dealing with an ankle injury. The Cavs are missing huge pieces on offense with Kyrie Irving (bicep) and Deng both sidelined. Dion Waiters and Spencer Hawes will have to be the Cavs offense.
Dion Waiters, SG3/20/2014 10:38:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters scored a team-high 30 points in Thursday's loss to OKC.
Insight: That's a season-high for Waiters and only three points off his career-high. Waiters, who alternates between starting and coming off the bench, drew the start on Thursday. In 11 starts, he's averaging 15.2 ppg compared to 14.7 ppg in 46 games as a reserve. We'll see what head coach Mike Brown decides to do with him Saturday against Houston.
Luol Deng, F3/20/2014 3:13:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Luol Deng will miss his second game in a row Thursday against the Thunder. SOURCE: Mary Schmitt Boyer, Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: He's out with an ankle injury. The Cavs are missing huge pieces on offense with Kyrie Irving (bicep) and Deng both sidelined. It doesn't help that Anthony Bennett (knee), Matt Dellavedova (sprained ankle) and Dion Waiters (hip) are hurting as well. Overall, Cleveland has lost six out of its last eight games.
Dion Waiters, SG3/20/2014 10:10:00 AM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters appeared to injure his right hip late in Tuesday's game and is questionable for Thursday's game against Oklahoma City.
Insight: Waiters had 17 points, a career-high 11 assists and four rebounds in 41 minutes Tuesday against the Heat, however, he injured his right hip to go along with an already sore knee and back. If he can play he could see big minutes with all the injuries to Cleveland's lineup.

Description: Cavaliers forward Luol Deng (ankle) missed Tuesday's game and is questionable for Thursday's game against Oklahoma City.
Insight: The Cavs are missing huge pieces on offense with Kyrie Irving out and Deng, Dion Waiters Matthew Dellavedova, C.J. Miles and Anthony Bennett hurting. The Cleveland offense is a mess, the team has lost six of their last eight and its best to stay away.
Dion Waiters, SGHot3/18/2014 10:48:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters had 17 points, a career-high 11 assists and four rebounds in 41 minutes Tuesday against the Heat. However, he appeared to injure his right hip when he was sandwiched between LeBron James and Udonis Haslem late in the fourth.
Insight: Kyrie Irving will miss two weeks with a biceps injury, allowing Waiters to move into the starting lineup and share ballhandling duties with Jarrett Jack. Waiters attempted 19 field goals Tuesday and has averaged 15.9 ppg over his last seven contests. His previous career high for assists in a game was eight, which he bested by three. The Cavs can ill afford to see him join Irving on the injury list.
Anderson Varejao, C3/18/2014 10:12:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao played 26 minutes Tuesday against the Heat, his most since he returned from his back injury.
Insight: Varejao also had his first double-double since he returned and finished with 16 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and a block. Description: Cavaliers guard Jarrett Jack had 22 points, four rebounds, four assists and four threes in 42 minutes Tuesday against the Heat.

Insight: With Kyrie Irving (biceps), Deng, C.J. Miles (ankle) and Matthew Dellavedova (ankle) either out or questionable to play, the Cavaliers are going to need Dion Waiters, Jarrett Jack and Alonzo Gee to handle a large chunk of minutes.
Dion Waiters, SGHot3/18/2014 11:56:00 AM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters has been strong offensively over the past six games and with Kyrie Irving sidelined for the next two weeks Waiters should continue to produce.
Insight: Waiters played 30-plus minutes in each of the last two games and he and Jarrett Jack should play huge minutes with Irving and C.J. Miles both in street clothes.
Jarrett Jack, G3/18/2014 11:53:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers guard Jarrett Jack should see as much court time as his sore left knee will allow with star PG Kyrie Irving sidelined for the next two weeks.

Description: Cavaliers shooting guard C.J. Miles (ankle) didn't practice Thursday and isn't expected to play Friday, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.

Spencer Hawes, CHot3/14/2014 11:34:00 AM

Insight: Hawes has averaged 16.6 points, 9.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 2.4 threes and 1.0 blocks per game over his last nine games. It's always smart to get players on the floor in a game with the up tempo Warriors.

Anderson Varejao, C3/11/2014 5:44:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers will gradually increase center Anderson Varejao's minutes, according to news-herald.com.
Insight: Varejao missed 12 games due to a back injury and played nine minutes in his return Sunday. With Anthony Bennett out at least three weeks with a knee injury, the Cavs will be able to give Spencer Hawes and Varejao enough minutes to make both players solid fantasy options.

Description: Cavs forward Anthony Bennett suffered a strained left patellar tendon and will miss about three weeks. SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: Bennett (4.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg) has shown some flashes of talent, but not enough to get the attention of fantasy owners. Spencer Hawes and Tristan Thompson will start at center and power forward for the forseeable future with Anderson Varejao and Tyler Zeller as the two backups.
Spencer Hawes, CHot3/8/2014 10:23:00 PM

Anderson Varejao, C3/8/2014 11:42:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao didn't play Friday against Charlotte, didn't even make the trip, so Saturday is also unlikely.
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries. Spencer Hawes Hawes is playing well with Cleveland averaging 14.7 points, 2.1 threes (53.6 percent from downtown), 9.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 blocks in seven games and is worthy of fantasy consideration.

Insight: Hawes has averaged 33.2 minutes, 16 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.3 threes and 1.0 blocks over his last six games. Cavs coach Mike Brown said Monday that Hawes likely will stay in the starting lineup even after Anderson Varejao returns.
Dion Waiters, SG3/4/2014 7:02:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters (hyperextended left knee) will be back in action Tuesday against the Spurs.

Anderson Varejao, C3/4/2014 1:14:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (back, knee, wrist) is not expected to play Tuesday against the Spurs, though coach Mike Brown left the door slightly open by saying his chances are "slim."
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries and will likely miss his 11th straight game. Spencer Hawes likely will retain the starting job even after Varejao returns, as the team will have to ease Varejao back into action after the long layoff.
Dion Waiters, SG3/4/2014 1:09:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters (hyperextended left knee) is questionable for Tuesday's game against San Antonio.
Insight: Waiters missed the last seven games, but he expected to be ready. He averaged 16.8 ppg on 47.9 percent shooting in the five games before the injury, but that was pre-Luol Deng and before Jarrett Jack allowed Kyrie Irving to play some SG.
Dion Waiters, SG3/3/2014 5:36:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters (knee) expects to be back in the lineup Tuesday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Waiters missed the last seven games with a hyperextended knee. He averaged 16.8 ppg on 47.9 percent shooting in the five games before the injury, but it probably won't carry over after the long layoff.
Anderson Varejao, C3/3/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (back, knee, wrist) is not expected to play Tuesday against the Spurs.
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries and will miss his 11th straight game. Coach Mike Brown said Monday that Spencer Hawes likely will retain the starting job even after Varejao returns, as the team will have to ease Varejao back into action.
Spencer Hawes, CHot3/3/2014 5:07:00 PM

Insight: Hawes has averaged 33.2 minutes, 15.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 2.2 threes and 1.0 blocks over his last five games. Varejao will come off the bench as a backup power forward and center when he returns.
Kyrie Irving, GHot3/2/2014 9:40:00 AM
Description: Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving followed up his triple-double Friday with another strong outing Saturday at Memphis.
Insight: This one didn't have all the bells and whistles (only one rebound and three assists) but 28 points is still 28 points. Love him or hate him, you have to admit Irving (21.5 ppg) is one of the most explosive scorers in professional hoops. We'll see what he can put together Tuesday against the Spurs.
Anthony Bennett, F3/1/2014 9:09:00 PM
Description: Cavs forward Anthony Bennett will be in uniform Saturday against Memphis. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: That doesn't necessarily mean that he'll get in the game. Bennett missed Friday's game with a knee issue and he could do the same tonight. With Spencer Hawes (13.1 ppg, 8.7 rpg) eating up most of his minutes at power forward, Bennett is back to being a fantasy non-factor.
Anthony Bennett, F3/1/2014 12:15:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett is dealing with soreness in his right knee and din't play Friday but is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against Memphis.
Insight: Bennett has played just 13.7 minutes per game over the last five games due to the acquisition of Spencer Hawes. He'll play even less when Anderson Varejao returns and shouldn't be owned in any leagues.

Insight: Irving had 21 points, 12 assists and 10 rebounds. The point guard has averaged 25.7 points, 10 assists, 6.3 assists, 2.0 threes and 2.0 steals his last three games.
Tristan Thompson, C2/28/2014 10:07:00 PM
Description: Cleveland forward Tristan Thompson has recorded seven double-doubles in his last nine games.
Insight: He came within one rebound of a double-double in each of the other two games during that span. The 22-year-old had 18 points, 14 rebounds and two assists in 33 minutes Friday night. His minutes may drop a bit when Anderson Varejao returns to the lineup, as the team will have to incorporate Spencer Hawes, Thompson and Varejao into the frontcourt mix.
Spencer Hawes, CHot2/28/2014 10:03:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Spencer Hawes had 13 points, 16 rebounds, two blocks and one steal Friday against the Jazz.
Insight: Hawes has averaged 33.3 minutes, 15.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.0 threes and 1.0 blocks over his last four games. He'll continue to start at center until Anderson Varejao returns, and even then the team will probably find enough minutes for him to be a solid fantasy option.
Anthony Bennett, F2/28/2014 7:26:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett is dealing with soreness in his right knee and won't play Friday against the Jazz.
Insight: Bennett had a decent run with averages of 21.1 minutes, 8.7 points and 5.4 rebounds from Jan. 28 to Feb. 18, but he has played just 13.7 minutes per game over the last five games due to the acquisition of Spencer Hawes. Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (back, knee, wrist) will not play Friday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters (knee) will miss another game on Friday - his sixth consecutive.
Insight: Waiters did some shooting Monday, but with his knee wrapped up and there is no timetable for his return. Jarrett Jack is getting 30 minutes of PT and worthy of fantasy consideration.
C.J. Miles, G2/28/2014 1:24:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles (ankle) is off the crutches, but isn't ready to play.
Insight: Miles (10.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg) suffered an ankle sprain last Wednesday. He doesn't have structural damage. Jarrett Jack is getting most of the SG minutes with Dion Waiters also sidelined.
Jarrett Jack, G2/26/2014 10:31:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard Jarrett Jack had 21 points, four assists, three rebounds, three steals and one steal in 39 minutes Wednesday at OKC.

Spencer Hawes, C2/26/2014 10:26:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Spencer Hawes had 19 points, seven rebounds and three treys in 32 minutes Wednesday against the Thunder.
Insight: Hawes has played exactly 32 minutes in three straight games and averaged 14.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 2.0 threes and 1.3 blocks in four games since joining the Cavaliers. However, his fantasy value will dip when Anderson Varejao returns to the lineup from his various injuries.
Kyrie Irving, GHot2/26/2014 10:22:00 PM
Description: After playing 45 minutes and scoring 25 points with nine assists Tuesday against Toronto, Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving was on the court for 43 minutes Wednesday and had 31 points, nine assists, five rebounds, four steals and four triples.

Dion Waiters, SG2/25/2014 6:26:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters (knee) is unlikely to travel to Oklahoma City for Wednesday's game, according to beat writer Rick Noland.
Insight: Waiters did some shooting Monday, but with his knee wrapped up and there is no timetable for his return. He'll definitely miss Tuesday's game and most likely won't play Wednesday, making it at least five games he'll have missed with a hyperextended knee.
Anderson Varejao, C2/25/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao (back, knee, wrist) is unlikely to travel to Oklahoma City for Wednesday's game, according to beat writer Rick Noland.
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries and will probably miss his seventh straight game. The team acquired Spencer Hawes at the trade deadline and is expected to start him Wednesday.
Anderson Varejao, C2/25/2014 6:24:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao (back, knee, wrist) is out for Friday's game with Utah, though he did participate in the morning shootaround.

Dion Waiters, SG2/25/2014 11:16:00 AM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters is expected to miss Tuesday's game against Toronto due to a hyperextended left knee.
Insight: Waiters did some shooting Monday, but with his knee wrapped up and there is no timetable for his return. At this point we are expecting him to miss just a couple more games.
Dion Waiters, SG2/22/2014 5:07:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters (knee) will miss his third straight game Sunday, according to beat writer Bob Finnan.
Insight: The Cavs will be without both C.J. Miles and Waiters again, leaving Jarrett Jack to get most of the shooting guard minutes. Jack played 41 minutes Friday night, but shot 3-of-9 and had nine points. Jack has had a subpar season and isn't worth a roster spot in fantasy leagues.
C.J. Miles, G2/22/2014 5:06:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles (ankle) will not play Sunday, according to beat writer Bob Finnan.
Insight: Miles (10.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg) suffered an ankle sprain Wednesday and sat out Friday. He doesn't have structural damage so he shouldn't be out long, but he just isn't doing enough for fantasy owners to hold onto him.
Anderson Varejao, C2/22/2014 4:01:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao did some shooting, but will not play Sunday.
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries and will sit out for the fifth straight game. Tyler Zeller and Anthony Bennett have been picking up some extra playing time in Varejao's absence, but this is the reason the team traded for Spencer Hawes.
Dion Waiters, SG2/21/2014 3:30:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters won't play Friday against Toronto. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: Waiters (14.3 ppg) has been diagnosed with a hyperextended knee. C.J. Miles is also out making Jarrett Jack and Luol Deng viable fantasy options.
C.J. Miles, G2/21/2014 3:25:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles injured his left ankle late in Wednesday's win against the Magic and will miss Friday's game against Toronto.
Insight: Miles (10.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg) injury didn't produce any structural damage, but he'll miss at least Friday. Dion Waiters will also miss the contest leaving extra minutes for Jarrett Jack and Luol Deng.
C.J. Miles, G2/20/2014 2:14:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles injured his left ankle late in Wednesday's win against the Magic, but it's just swollen with no structural problems, according to a Cleveland Plain Dealer report.
Insight: Miles (10.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.0 apg) believes he'll be fine, but we think he'll be questionable for Friday against Toronto so check back just before tipoff.
Spencer Hawes, C2/20/2014 10:39:00 AM
Description: Spencer Hawes has been traded to Cleveland. SOURCE: Adrian Wojnarowski, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Hawes has averaged 13.0 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.5 threes and 1.3 bpg this season. He'll be a better option than Tyler Zeller at center, but when Anderson Varejao returns (back), Hawes' fantasy value will take a significant hit.
Tristan Thompson, C2/19/2014 10:17:00 PM
Description: Cleveland forward Tristan Thompson produced his fourth consecutive double-double Wednesday in a victory over the Magic.
Insight: Thompson racked up 16 points and 14 rebounds as the Cavs won for the sixth time in a row. Of course, they had lost six straight before their winning streak. Thompson's season averages of 12.2 ppg and 9.6 rpg are both career-highs.
C.J. Miles, G2/19/2014 9:32:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles injured his leg late in Wednesday's win against the Magic. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: He may have sprained his ankle. We should have an update on Miles' condition shortly. Consider him questionable for Friday's game in Toronto.
Dion Waiters, SG2/19/2014 6:09:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters won't compete Wednesday against the Magic. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: Waiters (14.3 ppg) has been diagnosed with a hyperextended knee. Matthew Dellavedova will fill the sixth man role in his absence.
Dion Waiters, SG2/19/2014 12:34:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters is doubtful for Wednesday's game, according to beat writer Bob Finnan.
Insight: Waiters hyperextended his left knee after a dunk Tuesday and didn't return. He tweeted that he didn't tear anythng but admitted his knee is "sore as hell." His absence will allow Jarrett Jack, C.J. Miles and Matthew Dellavedova to play more minutes.
Anderson Varejao, C2/19/2014 12:32:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao will not play Wednesday against the Magic, according to Bob Finnan of news-herald.com.
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries and will sit out for the fourth straight game. Tyler Zeller and Anthony Bennett have been picking up some extra playing time in Varejao's absence. Both had double-doubles Tuesday while combining for 28 points and 26 rebounds.
Dion Waiters, SG2/19/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters tweeted that he didn't tear anything in his knee.
Insight: Waiters hyperextended his left knee after a dunk Tuesday and didn't return. He'll probably miss Wednesday's game against the 76ers, allowing Jarrett Jack, C.J. Miles and Matthew Dellavedova to play more minutes.
Luol Deng, F2/19/2014 11:54:00 AM
Description: The Cavaliers are testing the trade market for Luol Deng ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, according to Brian Windhorst of espn.com.
Insight: Cleveland picked up Deng from the Chicago Bulls for Andrew Bynum in early January, and Deng's fantasy value has taken a major hit since the deal. Deng will be an unrestricted free agent after the season.
Anthony Bennett, F2/18/2014 9:55:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett chipped in with ten points and 11 rebounds Tuesday in a lopsided win over Philadelphia.
Insight: Bennett, the guy we were calling the worst No. 1 pick in human history a few weeks ago, now has two double-doubles in his last three games. Bennett is improving but he still isn't ready to carry your fantasy team.
Tyler Zeller, C2/18/2014 9:35:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers probably didn't need Tyler Zeller to have a big night Tuesday against the Sixers. He did anyway, though, contributing 18 points and 15 rebounds in 25 minutes of court time.
Insight: That's Zeller's second double-double of the season. His last one came in a loss to New Orleans on January 28th. Zeller has another dream matchup waiting for him Wednesday against Orlando.
Dion Waiters, SG2/18/2014 8:38:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters won't be available for the second half Tuesday against the Sixers. He hyperextended his knee on a hard dunk late in the second quarter.
Insight: The Cavs probably won't need him after going into the break with a 21-point lead. Waiters dominated the Rising Stars Game in New Orleans on Friday (31 points) and was off to a great start before his knee injury tonight (13 points on 5-for-7 shooting).
Anderson Varejao, C2/17/2014 7:12:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao will not travel to Philadelphia for Tuesday's game, according to Bob Finnan of news-herald.com.
Insight: Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) is dealing with back, knee and wrist injuries and missed the last two games before the All-Star break. Tyler Zeller and Anthony Bennett have been picking up some extra playing time in Varejao's absence.
Dion Waiters, SG2/15/2014 9:26:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters used a three-point barrage in the second half to lead Team Hill to a win Friday in the Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend.
Insight: Waiters and Knicks guard Tim Hardaway Jr. traded three-pointers for about a minute straight late in the second half in what will probably be the game's lasting image. Overall, Waiters finished the night with a team-high 31 points on 10-of-14 shooting. He also led the team in assists with seven.
Tristan Thompson, C2/12/2014 10:10:00 PM
Description: Cavs power forward Tristan Thompson scored 25 points on 12-of-16 shooting and corralled 15 rebounds Wednesday at Detroit.
Insight: Thompson was instrumental in Cleveland winning its fourth straight game. He has averaged 20.5 points and 14 rebounds the last two games after putting up just 8.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per game his previous seven.
C.J. Miles, G2/12/2014 6:48:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard C.J. Miles will be back in action Wednesday against the Pistons, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Miles missed Tuesday's game with a sore foot. The Cavs stuffed his shoe with protective padding so he can play Wednesday. He's averaging 20.1 minutes, 10.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, 1.0 steals and 1.7 threes this season, so he's a low-end fantasy option.
Anderson Varejao, C2/11/2014 10:21:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao won't make the trip to Detroit for Wednesday night's game against the Pistons. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: Varejao's back still isn't 100 percent. With a few days off to rest, he should be good to go after the All-Star break. Look for Tyler Zeller (4.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg) to get another start at center.
Luol Deng, F2/11/2014 9:54:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers small forward Luol Deng had 22 points Tuesday against the Kings, but his numbers are down across the board since coming over to Cleveland from Chicago.
Insight: In 16 games with the Cavs, Deng has averaged 33 minutes, 15.3 points (12.9 FGA, 3.8 FTA), 4.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.1 steals per game. He put up 19 points (15.4 FGA, 5.4 FTA), 6.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.0 steals over 37.4 minutes per game in 23 games with the Bulls.
Dion Waiters, SGHot2/11/2014 9:41:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters has averaged 33 minutes, 20.7 points, 5.0 assists and 4.0 rebounds his last three games. He had 20 points, eight assists and two triples Tuesday against the Kings.
Insight: Cleveland's sixth man has been good for 16.2 ppg his last eight games. His 2013-14 season almost has been a carbon copy of his rookie campaign in every category.
Anthony Bennett, F2/11/2014 9:36:00 PM
Description: Cavs rookie Anthony Bennett had a career-high 19 points, 10 rebounds and three threes in 30 minutes Tuesday against Sacramento.
Insight: Bennett actually has looked like a competent NBA player lately, averaging 9.4 points and 5.1 rebounds per game in his last eight games, of which Anderson Varejao missed four. Bennett has scored double-digit points four times in that span after failing to do it once in his first 32 games. Bennett is still a Varejao long-term injury or trade away from fantasy relevance.
C.J. Miles, G2/11/2014 7:04:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard C.J. Miles won't compete Tuesday against the Kings. SOURCE: John Michael, Cavaliers play-by-play
Insight: Miles is out with a sore foot. He's likely done until after the All-Star break. Most of his minutes will go to Matthew Dellavedova (3.8 ppg).
Anderson Varejao, C2/11/2014 7:02:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (back, knee, hand) will miss Tuesday's game against the Kings, according to Cavs announcer John Michael.
Insight: The MRI on Varejao's back came back negative but he'll sit out to rest all of his ailments. Anthony Bennett and Tyler Zeller tend to see more playing time when Varejao is out.
C.J. Miles, G2/11/2014 1:46:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles (right foot) is questionable for Tuesday's game against Sacramento.

Luol Deng, F2/11/2014 11:12:00 AM
Description: Cavs small forward Luol Deng has continued to struggle with an Achilles injury, but will play through it.
Insight: Fantasy owners are probably wishing Deng had stayed in Chicago as his scoring average has fallen to 14.9 ppg since being traded to Cleveland (19.0 ppg in 23 games for the Bulls this season). Hopefully he'll get healthy over the All-Star break.
Anderson Varejao, C2/10/2014 6:58:00 PM
Description: An MRI on Anderson Varejao's injured back came back clean. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: He's still no lock to play Tuesday against the Kings. Tyler Zeller (4.2 ppg, 3.5 rpg) would likely start at center if Varejao has to sit out.
Kyrie Irving, G2/9/2014 9:22:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving has had a strange week but it didn't seem to affect him Sunday in a win over Memphis.
Insight: Irving was benched Wednesday and then played through an illness Friday against the Wizards. Sunday he looked fine, however, and managed to pour in 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting. He also dished out six assists. The five turnovers weren't pleasant, but that's to be expected when you're handling point guard duties for 40 minutes a night. Irving looks like he'll be fine going forward.
Luol Deng, F2/9/2014 5:18:00 PM
Description: Cavs small forward Luol Deng is set to make his return Sunday against Memphis. SOURCE: Sam Amico, Fox Sports Ohio
Insight: Deng was a late scratch Friday because of an illness. Fantasy owners are probably wishing Deng had stayed in Chicago as his scoring average has fallen to 15.3 ppg since being traded to Cleveland (19.0 ppg in 23 games for the Bulls this season).
Kyrie Irving, G2/7/2014 9:09:00 PM
Description: Kyrie Irving's illness has returned. It's unclear what his status is for the rest of tonight's game versus Washington.
Insight: Irving was a game-time decision and now we know why. Clearly the All-Star point guard is feeling under the weather. Jarrett Jack (8.9 ppg) will man the point while he's out.
Luol Deng, F2/7/2014 7:13:00 PM
Description: Cleveland forward Luol Deng was a late scratch Friday against the Wizards. SOURCE: Fred McLeod, Cavaliers play-by-play
Insight: Deng (17.6 ppg, 6.2 rpg) is out with an illness. C.J. Miles has taken his place in the starting lineup. Miles has averaged 9.4 ppg in 33 starts this season.
Kyrie Irving, G2/7/2014 6:51:00 PM
Description: Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving will be available Friday against the Wizards. SOURCE: Kyle Weidle, TruthAboutIt.com
Insight: He missed shootaround while dealing with an illness but it looks like he's good to go. Irving (21.4 ppg, 6.2 apg) got benched late in Wednesday's loss to the Lakers so it will be interesting to see what kind of playing time he gets on Friday.
Kyrie Irving, G2/7/2014 11:55:00 AM
Description: Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving will be a game-time decision Friday due to illness.
Insight: Irving missed the morning shootaround. He's currently in head coach Mike Brown's doghouse, so we hope this isn't related. Jarrett Jack is a viable fantasy option if Irving is sidelined.
Kyrie Irving, G2/5/2014 9:38:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving was benched for most of the second half Wednesday against the Lakers.
Insight: Irving (11 points in 28 minutes) appears to have landed in head coach Mike Brown's doghouse. Let's hope he doesn't stay there for very long.
Anderson Varejao, C2/3/2014 7:55:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao (knee) will return from a three-game absence Monday against the Mavericks, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon-Journal.
Insight: Tyler Zeller and Anthony Bennett saw more playing time with Varejao out of the lineup. Varejao has averaged 10.2 points, 13.4 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 steals and 0.9 blocks in his last 17 games, so fantasy owners will be happy to have him back.
Anderson Varejao, C2/3/2014 12:05:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao (knee) was thought to be close to playing in Saturday's game against Houston, but even Monday he'll be a game-time decision.
Insight: Tyler Zeller starts when Varejao is out, but has not proven that he can produce at a fantasy-worthy level. Varejao is a double-double machine.
Jarrett Jack, G2/3/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Cavs backup point guard Jarrett Jack started at SG on Saturday and is expected to do the same on Monday.
Insight: The move puts C.J. Miles on the bench. It is likely designed to take some of the pressure off Kyrie Irving. Jack had seven points and six assists against Houston and could end up being a low-end value if the experiment continues.
Anderson Varejao, C2/1/2014 2:39:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao (knee) did not play Thursday but has been upgraded to probable for Saturday's game against Houston.
Insight: Tyler Zeller starts when Varejao is out, but has not proven that he can produce at a fantasy-worthy level. Varejao is a double-double machine.
Anderson Varejao, C2/1/2014 12:04:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao (knee) did not play Thursday and is questionable for Saturday's game against Houston.
Insight: Tyler Zeller starts when Varejao is out, but has not proven that he can produce at a fantasy-worthy level.
Dion Waiters, SG1/30/2014 10:38:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters scored 21 points for the second straight game Thursday at New York.
Insight: The extremely streaky Waiters is streaking in the right direction at the moment but we've learned he can go south quickly.
Anderson Varejao, C1/30/2014 8:28:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao (knee) is not playing Thursday against the Knicks.
Insight: Tyler Zeller started for a second straight game and we also expect to see a lot of Anthony Bennett after he scored a career-high 15 points in 31 minutes Tuesday.
Anderson Varejao, C1/29/2014 4:49:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao was able to get in a limited practice session on Wednesday. He's traveling with the team for Thursday night's game against the Knicks. SOURCE: Sam Amico, Fox Sports Ohio
Insight: There's a good chance we'll see Varejao (8.8 ppg, 10.3 rpg) back in the starting five Thursday at MSG. He missed Tuesday's game with a bruised knee. That was Varejao's first absence of the season.
Anthony Bennett, F1/28/2014 9:36:00 PM
Description: Cavs rookie Anthony Bennett recorded double-digit points for the first time in his career Tuesday in a loss to New Orleans.
Insight: Bennett finished with 15 points on 5-of-10 shooting. The eight rebounds he corralled tied a season-high. The No. 1 pick in last year's draft had been a coach's decision DNP in six of his previous seven games before tonight's breakout performance.
Luol Deng, F1/28/2014 7:09:00 PM
Description: Cavs small forward Luol Deng is active for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans. SOURCE: Fox Sports Ohio
Insight: Deng missed practice for maintenance purposes on Monday. His Achilles isn't 100 percent but Deng has the All-Star break to look forward to in a few weeks. He's averaged 16.7 ppg in his first nine games with Cleveland.
Anderson Varejao, C1/28/2014 6:44:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao will miss Tuesday's game due to a left knee contusion, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Tyler Zeller is expected to make the start at center, but fantasy owners cannot expect him to duplicate the 10 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals Varejao has put up in his 25 starts this season.
Luol Deng, F1/28/2014 9:57:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers small forward Luol Deng missed Monday's practice due to his Achilles and should be considered questionable for Tuesday's game against New Orleans.
Insight: Deng had 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 41 minutes Sunday against the Suns. In nine games with Cleveland, Deng has averaged 33 minutes, 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game which is slightly down from his production in Chicago.
Anderson Varejao, C1/27/2014 8:44:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Anderson Varejao had an MRI on his hyperextended knee. Fortunately, it only revealed a bruise. SOURCE: Jason Lloyd, Akron Beacon Journal
Insight: Varejao missed practice Monday and is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Pelicans. Varejao is a below average offensive player (8.8 ppg) but makes up for it by being one of the most tenacious rebounders in the league (10.3 rpg, ninth in the NBA).
Anderson Varejao, C1/26/2014 10:59:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao hyperextended his left knee during Sunday's game, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: "I'll be fine," he said, adding that he is "trying to stay positive." Varejao has averaged 10.7 points, 13.5 rebounds, 1.4 steals and 0.9 blocks in his last 15 games. The 31-year-old has proven to be incredibly injury prone in his career, playing just 81 games in the previous three seasons combined.
Luol Deng, F1/26/2014 8:51:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers small forward Luol Deng had 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal over 41 minutes Sunday against the Suns.
Insight: In nine games with Cleveland, Deng has averaged 33 minutes, 16.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game. He was providing fantasy owners with 37.4 minutes, 19 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.7 assists when he was a member of the Bulls.

Description: Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving is headed to New Orleans. He'll represent the Eastern Conference in the All-Star Game for the second year in a row on February 16th.
Insight: The Australian-born point guard is averaging 21.7 ppg for the Cavaliers this season. He'll be joined in the starting lineup by LeBron James, Carmelo Anthony, Dwyane Wade and Paul George.
Dion Waiters, SGCold1/20/2014 6:26:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters played just 17 minutes and had zero points Monday against the Mavericks.
Insight: We can probably attribute the lack of playing time to Waiters' ugly .291 shooting percentage his last five games.
Luol Deng, F1/20/2014 9:59:00 AM
Description: In his five games with Cleveland, forward Luol Deng has continued to score at a pace similar to his time in Chicago, but his rebounding and assists totals are down.
Insight: Deng has been limited to about 30 mpg with the Cavs as compared to 37 in Chicago so this may be the cause of the drop in some categories. That should change when he's 100 percent healthy. Deng led the league in minutes played for two seasons (2011-12, 2012-13).
Tristan Thompson, CHot1/20/2014 9:55:00 AM
Description: Cavs power forward Tristan Thompson has posted six double-doubles in the past seven games.
Insight: Thompson is currently on a pace to set career highs in scoring average (12.2) and rebounds (9.8). The recent addition of Luol Deng to the lineup doesn't appear to have effected Thompson's fantasy value.
Anderson Varejao, C1/20/2014 3:36:00 AM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao was a fantasy stud Monday against Dallas, racking up 18 points, 21 rebounds and four assists.
Insight: Varejao continues to be a rebounding machine with at least 12 rebounds in 8-of-9 games this month and the most since he pulled down 25 rebounds on Jan 2.
Tristan Thompson, C1/15/2014 9:35:00 AM
Description: Cavs power forward Tristan Thompson generated 15 points and 13 rebounds Tuesday in a win over the Lakers.
Insight: By most measures, this has been Thompson's most productive season since entering the league in 2011. His 12.0 ppg average is a career-high, as are his 9.8 rpg. He's worth employing in most fantasy settings.
Anderson Varejao, C1/15/2014 9:32:00 AM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao proved to be the Lakers' kryptonite Tuesday night at Staples Center.
Insight: Varejao wound up with 18 points, 18 boards and six assists in a 120-118 Cavs victory. He's averaging double-digit rebounds for the third year in a row.
Luol Deng, F1/12/2014 4:45:00 PM
Description: According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Cavaliers forward Luol Deng said he will be limited to 30 minutes Sunday as a precaution to protect his sore Achilles.
Insight: Deng had just 10 points and one rebound in 21 minutes Friday in his first game with the Cavaliers. He's been dealing with Achilles tendinitis for more than a month.
Jarrett Jack, G1/10/2014 2:06:00 PM
Description: Cavs point guard Jarrett Jack missed another game Tuesday while still dealing with back spasms and is listed as questionable for Friday's game against Utah.
Insight: With Irving back in the lineup, Jack's upside is limited. He's averaging 9.9 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 4.0 apg this season.
Kyrie Irving, G1/10/2014 2:01:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Kyrie Irving (knee/oral surgery) practiced Thursday despite having a root canal earlier in the day. He's expected to play Friday night against Utah.
Insight: Irving missed three games with a bruised knee before returning against Philadelphia on Tuesday. He was just average in his return, scoring 16 points with eight assists.
Luol Deng, F1/8/2014 3:58:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said Luol Deng will "most likely" start Friday against the Jazz, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: The Cavs acquired Deng from the Bulls for Andrew Bynum Monday night, but he didn't play Tuesday. Deng averaged 22.1 ppg in 12 games after Derrick Rose tore his meniscus, but he's unlikely to provide that type of scoring on a team with Kyrie Irving. Look for an average closer to the 16.1 ppg Deng has put up throughout his career.
Anderson Varejao, C1/7/2014 9:56:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Anderson Varejao pulled down 14 rebounds in Tuesday's win over Philadelphia.
Insight: He also tied a season-high with 18 points. Varejao, an injury waiting to happen most seasons, has still yet to miss a game in 2013-14 (knock on wood).
C.J. Miles, GHot1/7/2014 9:37:00 PM
Description: Cavs shooting guard C.J. Miles (34 points) knocked down ten threes in Tuesday night's win over Philadelphia.
Insight: That's a new team-record for three-pointers in a game. The 34 points Miles generated on Tuesday were his most since March 16, 2011 when he put up 40 against the T-Wolves. Miles has averaged 22 ppg in four January appearances.
Kyrie Irving, G1/7/2014 5:34:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Kyrie Irving (knee) is expected to start Tuesday against the Sixers, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Irving missed the last three games with a bruised knee. He's coming off a month in which he averaged 24.1 ppg on 46.1 percent shooting.
Kyrie Irving, G1/7/2014 4:22:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Kyrie Irving (knee) went through shootaround but he will be a game-time decision Tuesday against the 76ers, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Jarrett Jack (back) has been ruled out, meaning Matthew Dellavedova may have to start for a second straight game if Irving cannot go.
Luol Deng, F1/7/2014 2:03:00 PM
Description: Small forward Luol Deng, traded to Cleveland Cavaliers this morning, isn't likely to play this evening against the 76ers, according to a Cleveland Plain Dealer report.
Insight: Deng (19.0 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 3.7 apg) should slide right into the starting SF slot and continue to produce as he did in Chicago, but he will have to do it starting with the next game on the schedule.
Jarrett Jack, G1/7/2014 1:56:00 PM
Description: Cavs point guard Jarrett Jack will miss another game Tuesday while still dealing with back spasms.
Insight: Jack could have been racking up the stats while Kyrie Irving was out of the lineup, but he couldn't make it to the starting line. Rookie Matt Dellavedova will either backup Irving if the star guard plays or start if his game-time decision is to sit out.
Luol Deng, F1/7/2014 10:21:00 AM
Description: Small forward Luol Deng will put his many talents to work for the Cleveland Cavaliers after being traded for Andrew Bynum and draft picks.
Insight: Deng (19.0 ppg, 6.9 rpg, 3.7 apg) should slide right into the starting SF slot and continue to produce as he did in Chicago.
Kyrie Irving, G1/6/2014 11:19:00 AM
Description: Cavs guard Kyrie Irving didn't play Sunday versus Indiana and is questionable for Tuesday's game against Philadelphia.
Insight: He continues to be bothered by a bruised knee. Cleveland's starting backcourt on Sunday was Matthew Dellavedova and C.J. Miles. Sixth man Dion Waiters could also be useful if both Irving and Jarrett Jack are sidelined.
Jarrett Jack, G1/5/2014 6:22:00 PM
Description: Cavs point guard Jarrett Jack will miss Sunday's game against the Pacers because of back spasms. SOURCE: Akron Beacon Journal
Insight: It's a shame because he would have seen a huge workload in Kyrie Irving's absence (he's out with a bruised knee). Instead, rookie Matt Dellavedova will make his fourth start of the season. This is the first game Jack has missed this year.
Kyrie Irving, G1/5/2014 6:15:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Kyrie Irving won't play Sunday versus Indiana. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: He continues to be bothered by a bruised knee. Cleveland's starting backcourt on Sunday will feature Matthew Dellavedova (4.5 ppg) and C.J. Miles (8.9 ppg). Sixth man Dion Waiters may end up playing more than both of them. Consider Irving day-to-day.
Kyrie Irving, G1/3/2014 3:20:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving (knee) did not play Thursday and is not expected to make the trip to Brooklyn for Saturday's game.
Insight: Irving (22.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.1 apg) has avoided a serious issue after hearing a "pop" in his knee, but he'll miss a second straight game. Jarrett Jack (14 points, seven rebound, seven assists last game) will again start at point guard.
Kyrie Irving, G1/3/2014 10:15:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving (knee) did not play Thursday, but could return for Saturday's game.
Insight: Irving (22.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.1 apg) has avoided a serious issue. Jarrett Jack will again start at point guard if Irving can't go.
Dion Waiters, SG1/2/2014 9:53:00 PM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters has made just 20-of-64 (.313) from the field over his last four games, including 6-of-20 with 17 points Thursday against Orlando.
Insight: Waiters missed three games due to wrist tendinitis in December, but he had 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting in his return on Dec. 26 so we really can't pin his recent struggles on the injury. The streaky guard will heat up again soon.
Anderson Varejao, C1/2/2014 9:48:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao grabbed 25 rebounds and had 18 points in 39 minutes Thursday against the Magic.
Insight: Andrew Bynum's suspension opened the door for Varejao to rejoin the starting lineup and also absorb some of Bynum's minutes. He's played 35 minutes per game and averaged 13.3 points, 16 boards and 1.3 blocks in three games since the suspension was handed down.
Kyrie Irving, G1/2/2014 5:50:00 PM

Insight: Irving (22.2 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 6.1 apg) has avoided a serious issue after hearing a "pop" in his knee Tuesday, but he's still questionable to play Thursday against the Magic. He'll be reevaluated at Thursday's morning shootaround. Obviously, if he plays, he's a must start.
Kyrie Irving, G1/1/2014 5:11:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving has been diagnosed with a left knee contusion, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Irving has avoided a serious issue after hearing a "pop" in his knee Tuesday, but he's still questionable to play Thursday against the Magic. He'll be reevaluated at Thursday's morning shootaround.
Kyrie Irving, G12/31/2013 7:06:00 PM
Description: Kyrie Irving isn't out of the woods just yet. The Cavaliers guard is headed for an MRI on the knee he injured in Tuesday's loss to Indiana. SOURCE: Jason Lloyd, Akron Beacon Journal
Insight: Hopefully it's just precautionary. His X-rays already came back negative. Obviously it would be a huge loss for Cavaliers fans and fantasy owners alike if Irving were to miss any significant amount of time.
Kyrie Irving, G12/31/2013 5:13:00 PM
Description: Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving left the floor earlier with a knee injury but is already back in the game.
Insight: Fantasy owners can all let out a collective sigh of relief. Uncle Drew has struggled with his shot today, connecting on just 3-of-9 field goals for 10 points. He's 4-of-4 from the line.
Kyrie Irving, G12/31/2013 4:54:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Kyrie Irving hurt his knee Tuesday against Indiana and had to be helped off the floor.
Insight: He's in the locker room getting looked at as we speak. Irving's return is questionable. The Cavs will have to roll with Jarrett Jack at point guard while he's out.
Andrew Bynum, C12/29/2013 11:14:00 AM
Description: The Heat and Clippers are both expected to make a play for Andrew Bynum as soon as he is released. SOURCE: Los Angeles Times
Insight: He's been suspended indefinitely by the Cavaliers and the team is hoping to have him off the roster by January 7th. Bynum never meshed in Cleveland but he could be a difference maker for Miami, a team that still doesn't have a true low post presence. Whether a fresh start will translate into fantasy relevance for Bynum remains to be seen.
Kyrie Irving, GHot12/28/2013 8:59:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving had 32 points on 13-of-22 shooting Saturday at Boston, giving him at least 30 points for the fifth time in the last nine games.

Andrew Bynum, C12/28/2013 4:35:00 PM
Description: According to Sam Amico of foxsportsohio.com, the Cavaliers will release Andrew Bynum before his contract is guaranteed on Jan. 7. Bynum signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Cavs last summer, but it only included $6 million in guaranteed money.
Insight: Cleveland suspended Bynum indefinitely on Saturday for conduct detrimental to the team and is trying to trade him, but NBA sources told foxsportsohio.com that teams are not interested in dealing for the center. Bynum missed all of last season with knee issues and has played just 20 minutes per game this season.
Andrew Bynum, C12/28/2013 1:33:00 PM
Description: The Cavaliers have suspended center Andrew Bynum indefinitely and are looking to trade him. SOURCE: NBA.com
Insight: The suspension is for conduct detrimental to the team. A league source told Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski that Bynum "doesn't want to play basketball anymore" and that "he never liked it much in the first place." If this is true, it's an incredible waste of talent. If the Cavs can trade Bynum away by January 7th, they'll only have to pay him $6 million of his $12 million salary. Bynum has averaged 8.4 ppg and 5.3 rpg in 24 games this season.
Anderson Varejao, C12/26/2013 10:37:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers center Anderson Varejao tied a season-high with 17 rebounds Thursday in a loss to Atlanta.
Insight: Thursday was Varejao's ninth double-digit rebounding effort of the season. Staying healthy has always been Varejao's biggest obstacle but so far he's yet to miss a game in 2013-14.
Kyrie Irving, G12/26/2013 10:30:00 PM
Description: Cavs point guard Kyrie Irving blew up for 40 points Thursday in an overtime loss to Atlanta.

Dion Waiters, SG12/26/2013 10:44:00 AM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters is questionable for Thursday's game against Atlanta with right wrist tendinitis.
Insight: Waiters (14.9 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 2.5 apg) continues to battle wrist problems. C.J. Miles has been starting in his place though Kyrie Irving should benefit the most from Waiters' absence.

Insight: Waiters wants to be a franchise player and that's not going to happen in Cleveland. Going to Philadelphia would reunite Waiters with his former Syracuse teammate, point guard Michael Carter-Williams. The trade deadline is February 20th.
Dion Waiters, SG12/17/2013 6:45:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters will be available for Tuesday's game against Portland. SOURCE: Chris B. Haynes, Comcast Sportsnet Northwest

Description: Cleveland backup center Tyler Zeller is questionable for Tuesday's game against Portland due to a sprained right ankle.
Insight: With Andrew Bynum and Anderson Varejao above him on the depth chart, Zeller is only seeing about seven minutes per game and has no fantasy value even when healthy. Of course given the injury-prone status of the guys in front of him, that could change quickly.

Insight: Irving could not be stopped on Tuesday night. He shot 14-of-23 from the field including four out of seven from three-point distance. C.J. Miles, G11/30/2013 6:43:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard C.J. Miles (calf) will start Saturday, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.
Insight: Miles will play his first game since suffering a right calf strain on Nov. 20. He's averaging 18 minutes, 10 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 threes per game and will cut into Dion Waiters' minutes.
Dion Waiters, SG11/27/2013 10:47:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard Dion Waiters may have boosted his trade value with 24 points, six rebounds, three assists and four threes over 33 minutes Wednesday versus Miami.
Insight: Waiters is reportedly being shopped after having an altercation with teammate Tristan Thompson. According to ESPN's Chris Broussard, Waiters complained that Kyrie Irving and Thompson don't pass him the ball enough. A trade would likely help his fantasy value.
Dion Waiters, SGCold11/27/2013 3:55:00 PM
Description: The Cavs are looking to deal second-year shooting guard Dion Waiters. SOURCE: Chris Broussard, ESPN
Insight: Waiters had a couple mysterious inactives over the weekend and recently had a heated exchange with teammate Tristan Thompson. The former Syracuse guard is a natural scorer but he isn't a great fit in Cleveland.
Andrew Bynum, C11/23/2013 7:44:00 PM
Description: Cleveland big man Andrew Bynum will play Saturday against San Antonio. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: He's playing the second game of a back-to-back for the first time this season. Don't get too excited though. The 26-year-old is averaging just 15.8 mpg, his lowest average since his rookie season in 2005-06.
Matthew Dellavedova, G11/22/2013 4:25:00 PM
Description: According to cleveland.com, Matthew Dellavedova will start at shooting guard for the Cavaliers Friday night against the Pelicans. C.J. Miles is out with a calf strain.
Insight: The undrafted rookie out of Saint Mary's had nine points and three threes Wednesday against the Wizards. Dion Waiters will continue to come off the bench but likely will see more minutes than Dellavedova.
Tyler Zeller, C11/22/2013 10:39:00 AM
Description: Cleveland backup center Tyler Zeller is questionable for Friday's game against New Orleans due to a sprained right ankle.
Insight: With Andrew Bynum and Anderson Varejao above him on the depth chart, Zeller is only seeing about seven minutes per game and has no fantasy value at this time.
C.J. Miles, G11/21/2013 4:44:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard C.J. Miles (calf) will miss Friday's game at New Orleans, according to Bob Finnan of new-herald.com.
Insight: Miles suffered a right calf strain and played just three minutes Wednesday night. Coach Mike Brown said he's not sure who will start at shooting guard, but Dion Waiters should see a good portion of the minutes there with Miles out.
C.J. Miles, G11/20/2013 10:19:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers guard C.J. Miles suffered a right calf strain Wednesday against the Wizards.
Insight: He played just three minutes and had zero points. Dion Waiters played 30 minutes off the bench in his return from a two-game absence but hit 2-of-13 from the field (7-8 FT) for 11 points. Little-used rookie Matthew Dellavedova also saw 27 minutes and had nine points with three threes.
Dion Waiters, SG11/18/2013 3:18:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Dion Waiters was back at practice Monday after missing the past five days due to "illness."
Insight: He could be available for Wednesday's game against Washington, but there are also rumors that he could be headed to a bench role. Fantasy owners should wait to see how this ends up before installing Waiters into lineups.
Kyrie Irving, G11/16/2013 9:58:00 PM
Description: Playing with a mask to protect his broken nose, Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving dropped in 41 points on 14-of-28 shooting (4-7 3PT, 9-9 FT) Saturday against the Wizards.
Insight: Perhaps Irving should consider leaving the mask on once his fracture heals, a la Richard Hamilton. The guard entered Saturday's game shooting just 38 percent from the field and 32 percent from 3-point range.
Andrew Bynum, C11/16/2013 4:34:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Andrew Bynum expects to play Saturday against Washington. SOURCE: The News-Herald
Insight: Bynum had been away from the team for personal reasons. As he gets back into playing shape, Bynum should start seeing more minutes (just 15 mpg in his first six contests).
Dion Waiters, SG11/15/2013 1:15:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Dion Waiters has been downgraded to doubtful for Friday's game against the Bobcats after missing the morning shootaround.
Insight: Jarrett Jack could end up playing 30-plus minutes and C.J. Miles would pick up additional floor time if Waiters can't play.
Dion Waiters, SG11/14/2013 9:30:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Dion Waiters had to leave practice Thursday because of an illness. SOURCE: Bob Finnan, The News-Herald
Insight: He's still expected to play Friday versus the Bobcats, though he could be limited. Waiters averaged 14.7 ppg in three games against Charlotte as a rookie.
Andrew Bynum, C11/12/2013 6:08:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum has been excused from the team until Saturday in order to tend to a family matter. SOURCE: Cleveland.com
Insight: Bynum will miss the next two games. The center made his first start of the season Monday against Chicago and played well in his 21 minutes of action.
Andrew Bynum, C11/11/2013 10:42:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum made his first start of the season Monday against Chicago and had 11 points, six rebounds and two blocks in 21 minutes.
Insight: It was a nice performance for Bynum, who admitted last week that he still thinks about retiring due to his physical issues. He'll remain on a minutes limit and will need to sit some games, so he's only worth adding in deeper leagues.
Tristan Thompson, C11/11/2013 10:40:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Tristan Thompson had 14 points, 13 rebounds, one steal and one block in 39 minutes Monday at Chicago.
Insight: The 22-year-old Thompson is averaging 37.5 minutes, 13 points and 10.1 rebounds per game this season. He's posted a double-double and blocked at least one shot in three straight games.
Alonzo Gee, F11/11/2013 4:25:00 PM
Description: Cleveland's Alonzo Gee started at small forward Saturday, but the switch is not permanent. SOURCE: Bob Finnan, news-herald.com
Insight: "I’m going to take it one game at a time," Brown said. "I’ll try to go with the best fit and go from there. I wanted something different with the starting lineup. So, I went in another direction." Neither Gee, who had two points Saturday despite getting the start, nor Earl Clark, who started the first six games, have fantasy value.
Dion Waiters, SG11/10/2013 10:15:00 AM
Description: Cavs guard Dion Waiters added a season-high 24 points in Saturday's win against the Sixers.
Insight: Of course, it came while playing a season-high 44 minutes (the game went into double-overtime). Waiters hasn't shown much improvement from last season but he hasn't gotten worse either. His 14.4 ppg average is nearly identical to the one he posted in his rookie campaign (14.7 ppg in 61 contests).
Kyrie Irving, G11/9/2013 10:46:00 PM
Description: Kyrie Irving's layup with 0.6 seconds left in double overtime lifted the Cavaliers to a 127-125 victory Saturday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
Insight: Irving produced a season-high 39 points in the win. He also dished out 12 assists. After a slow start, it appears Uncle Drew is finally rounding into form.
C.J. Miles, FHot11/9/2013 8:56:00 AM
Description: Despite playing just 21 minutes per game this season, Cleveland guard C.J. Miles is averaging 14.3 ppg.
Insight: He's found a way to attempt 5.8 threes per game and is making 40 percent of them. Miles has scored in double figures in five of six games this season.
Dion Waiters, SG11/8/2013 9:22:00 PM
Description: Cleveland shooting guard Dion Waiters has averaged 19.5 ppg over his last two games.
Insight: The up-and-down scorer averaged just 9.5 ppg over his first four games. He's barely offering anything in the rebounding and assist categories but does have 1.7 steals per game.
Anthony Bennett, FCold11/8/2013 8:35:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett sprained his right shoulder during Friday's game and will not return, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Bennett tried to take Philadelphia's Brandon Davies off the dribble, lost his footing and slammed into the 76ers power forward with his right shoulder in the first quarter Friday. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft had surgery on his left shoulder back in May and it put him way behind in his conditioning for the 2013-14 season. He can ill afford another injury after starting off 1-for-20 from the field in his first six NBA games.
Anthony Bennett, FCold11/8/2013 8:00:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers forward Anthony Bennett suffered a right shoulder injury Friday and had to go to the locker room.
Insight: Bennett tried to take Philadelphia's Brandon Davies off the dribble, lost his footing and slammed into the 76ers power forward with his right shoulder. Bennett had zero points in six minutes of play Friday and is 1-for-20 from the field in his first six NBA games.
Andrew Bynum, C11/7/2013 7:16:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum considered retirement last summer and admitted Thursday he still has thoughts about ending his NBA career. SOURCE: Ohio.com
Insight: Bynum has lost his joy for the game due to his physical issues. "At the moment, it’s tough to enjoy the game because of how limited I am physically. I’m still sort of working through that. "I’m a shell of myself on the court right now. I’m struggling mentally. I’m trying." Bynum likely was speaking more out of frustration than anything else, but he's not someone who should be owned in fantasy leagues.
Kyrie Irving, G11/6/2013 11:18:00 PM
Description: After scoring no more than 16 points in any of his first four games this season, Cleveland point guard Kyrie Irving exploded for 29 points on 10-of-20 shooting (4-6 3PT, 5-5 FT) Wednesday against the Bucks.
Insight: Irving shot just 36.9 percent from the field, 18.2 percent from 3-point land and 61.1 percent from the foul line his first four games, but he got all three issues figured out Wednesday.
Andrew Bynum, C11/6/2013 2:09:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum expects to play against Milwaukee on Wednesday and then again Friday versus the Sixers. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain-Dealer
Insight: However, he's likely to sit out Saturday's game which will also be against Philadelphia. Bynum's knees are getting better but he still isn't ready to play back-to-backs and probably won't be for a while. He's averaging 6.0 ppg this season on 27.8 percent shooting.
Anthony Bennett, FCold11/5/2013 9:06:00 PM
Description: Cavs No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett has just two points total in his first four NBA games.
Insight: Those two points came on free throws, meaning that Bennett still hasn't made a field goal yet. He's 0-for-15 from the field including 0-of-8 from downtown. The good news is, the season is still young and the 20-year-old from UNLV will have plenty of time to improve. Cleveland's next game is Wednesday against Milwaukee.
Andrew Bynum, C11/4/2013 6:25:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Andrew Bynum is set to play Monday against the Wolves. SOURCE: Jason Lloyd, Akron Beacon Journal
Insight: Until his knee is back at full strength, we're going to have to monitor Bynum's status game-by-game. Bynum sat out Cleveland's last game Saturday at Indiana.
Andrew Bynum, C11/2/2013 6:23:00 PM
Description: As expected, Cleveland center Andrew Bynum won't be in the lineup Saturday against the Pacers.
Insight: He isn't playing back-to-backs yet. Until Bynum's playing time increases (9.5 mpg), we can't endorse him as a fantasy option.
Andrew Bynum, C11/1/2013 6:13:00 PM
Description: Cavs center Andrew Bynum is expected to play Friday against the Bobcats though Akron Beacon Journal reporter Jason Lloyd says Bynum is unlikely to play Saturday against Indiana.
Insight: Bynum isn't ready to play back-to-backs yet after undergoing multiple knee surgeries during the 2012-13 campaign. Bynum will be a high-risk, high-reward fantasy player this season.
Sergey Karasev, G11/1/2013 10:14:00 AM
Description: Cavaliers forward Sergey Karasev is questionable for Friday's game against Charlotte due to a sprained ankle.
Insight: Karasev is limited by a lack of playing time behind Earl Clark and Alonzo Gee, but he's a good shooter who could eventually carve out a role. At this time, however, fantasy owners should adopt a wait-and-see attitude.
Andrew Bynum, C10/31/2013 10:25:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum will be a game-time call Friday against the Bobcats. SOURCE: Cleveland Plain Dealer
Insight: The Cavs are taking things very slow with their seven-footer. Look for the injury-prone big man to suit up Friday but sit out Saturday when the team travels to Indiana.
Tristan Thompson, C10/30/2013 10:05:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers power forward Tristan Thompson had 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting with nine boards Wednesday night in the season opener.
Insight: Thompson averaged a double-double -- 13.2 ppg, 10.3 rpg -- with 0.7 steals and 1.0 blocks in his final 56 games last season. He played 35 minutes Wednesday, but could eventually lose some time to 2013 No. 1 overall pick Anthony Bennett.
Anthony Bennett, F10/30/2013 10:03:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers rookie forward Anthony Bennett had two points and five rebounds over 15 minutes in his NBA debut Wednesday night. He went 0-for-5 from the field (0-3 3PT).
Insight: Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, spent most of the summer recovering from shoulder surgery and is still working on his conditioning. He's currently behind Tristan Thompson, who saw 35 minutes Wednesday, on the depth chart.
Earl Clark, F10/30/2013 10:00:00 PM
Description: Earl Clark started Wednesday's season opener at small forward and had nine points and eight rebounds in 27 minutes.
Insight: Alonzo Gee played 19 minutes and had seven points with four boards, one steal and one three. Fantasy owners can expect this type of share as long as Clark holds onto the starting job.
Andrew Bynum, C10/30/2013 6:44:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum (knees) will play in the season opener against the Nets.
Insight: Bynum won't start and will only play for one stretch of minutes. When he comes out, he'll be done for the night, so fantasy owners don't have to bother playing him with 14 NBA games on the schedule.
Andrew Bynum, C10/30/2013 5:52:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum (knees) has been cleared to play Wednesday and will be a game-time decision, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Bynum won't start, and if he plays it will be for one stretch of minutes. When he comes out, he'll be done for the night, so fantasy owners don't have to bother playing him with 14 NBA games on the schedule.
Andrew Bynum, C10/30/2013 3:46:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum still hasn't been cleared to play. SOURCE: Jason Lloyd, Akron Beacon Journal
Insight: Obviously, he won't be available for Wednesday's season opener against Brooklyn. Bynum missed all of last season after having knee surgery and there's no timetable for when he'll be back in 2013-14.
Andrew Bynum, C10/28/2013 8:32:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said that while Andrew Bynum hasn't been given full clearance he has participated in full court 5-on-5 for over a week, according to Jason Lloyd of the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Brown called it a day-to-day situation. Bynum hasn't been ruled out for the season opener yet, but even if he does play he'll see limited minutes while he works on his conditioning. The 26-year-old missed all of last season with knee problems and shouldn't be drafted in the first 10 rounds of 10-team fantasy drafts.
Anderson Varejao, C10/25/2013 4:40:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Anderson Varejao played 20 minutes in Wednesday night's game with six rebound and four points.
Insight: Varejao started out last season playing like an All-Star (14.1 ppg, 14.4 rog, 3.4 apg, 1.5 spg), but will have to work his way back to that level over time. He also may be limited in court time if a miracle happens and Andrew Bynum plays this season.
Andrew Bynum, C10/25/2013 4:36:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum has been practicing in limited fashion and doesn't appear to be ready to start the season.
Insight: Same story, different year and team. Bynum hasn't appeared in a game since 2012 and it doesn't sound like his knees are showing any signs of improvement. When it comes to Bynum's fantasy value he's an extemely high risk. Taking him anywhere before the late rounds probably isn't worth it.
Earl Clark, F10/22/2013 7:50:00 PM
Description: According to the News-Herald, Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said that he's considering both Alonzo Gee and Earl Clark for the starting small forward job.
Insight: It didn't look like Gee would have much of a role this season after the team signed Clark and drafted Anthony Bennett, but he has played well this preseason. In 82 games last season, Gee averaged 31 minutes, 10.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.3 steals, and he's unlikely to see as many minutes even if he begins the season as the starter.
Jarrett Jack, G10/14/2013 4:15:00 PM
Description: Cleveland guard Jarrett Jack is expected to miss about 10 days due to left knee inflammation. SOURCE: Bob Finnan, The News Herald
Insight: The Cavaliers will be Jack's sixth NBA team. He'll be backing up Kyrie Irving at point guard, but could also see time at shooting guard. He averaged 12.9 ppg, 5.5 apg, 3.1 rpg last season with Golden State.
Andrew Bynum, C10/14/2013 3:20:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum was at practice Monday, but didn't do very much. He was seen with ice packs on both knees.
Anthony Bennett, F10/5/2013 8:09:00 PM
Description: Cavaliers rookie forward Anthony Bennett was exhausted less than four minutes into Saturday's scrimmage, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.
Insight: Bennett, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, has a long way to go in his conditioning after missing most of the summer recovering from shoulder surgery. It’s hard just sitting out the whole summer and then trying to come back," Bennett said. "It’s something I’ve been working on the past couple weeks and I still need to get better at it." His fantasy value is limited this season given how crowded Cleveland's frontcourt is with Tristan Thompson, Earl Clark, Anderson Varejao, Tyler Zeller, Alonzo Gee and Andrew Bynum all vying for minutes.
Andrew Bynum, C9/18/2013 7:30:00 PM
Description: Cleveland center Andrew Bynum isn't close to being able to play. The Cavaliers expect him to miss all of training camp while he continues to rehab his surgically repaired knees. SOURCE: Fox Sports Ohio
Insight: Same story, different year. Bynum hasn't appeared in a game since 2012 and it doesn't sound like his knee is showing any signs of improvement. This injury could haunt Bynum for the remainder of his career. When it comes to appraising Bynum's fantasy value, the risks far outweigh the positives.
Tristan Thompson, C8/12/2013 9:17:00 PM
Description: Here's something you don't see too often. Cavs big man Tristan Thompson has decided to switch shooting hands. SOURCE: Michael Grange, Sportsnet
Insight: He'll now shoot with his right hand after playing his first two seasons as a lefty. It's a bizarre move but you can't blame the guy for wanting to shake things up. Thompson shot a pathetic 60.8 percent from the free throw line in 2012-13.
