Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz is getting the day off on Sunday.
Insight: It is just a routine day of rest for Big Papi. He continues to rake the ball, as he is third in the AL with 35 homeruns and tied for third with 104 RBI. Ortiz has shown no signs of a decline, just yet.
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz went 3-for-5 with the game-winning home run on Friday against the Orioles, but should not be in fantasy lineups for Saturday.
Insight: That's because he's an ugly 2-for-24 (.083) without an extra base hit against Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman. Ortiz has once again put up solid power numbers with 34 homers and 102 RBI, this just isn't a good matchup.
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz hit 3-for-5 with the game-winning home run on Friday against the Orioles.
Insight: Ortiz actually opened up the Red Sox scoring with a solo home run in the fourth. He drove in a run on a single in the fifth as Boston took a 3-1 lead. Then in the 10th, he hit a two-run bomb to give the Red Sox a 5-3 victory. It was Ortiz's fifth multi-home run game of the year and second of September.
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz is not in Tuesday staring lineup.
Insight: Ortiz left for a family emergency Sunday but should be back in time for the game. They are playing in Pittsburgh which means no DH, however, so he likely would only start one of the three games anyway.
Description: Blue Jays DH Adam Lind is not in Monday's starting lineup.
Insight: Lind is cranking out the hits, has a seven-game hitting streak and is batting .415 over the past dozen games. It appears to be a routine day off after he blasted his second home run in two games Sunday.
Description: Tigers DH Victor Martinez went 2-for-4 with a run and RBI on Friday against the Indians.
Insight: Martinez came into the game going 0-for-6 in his last two games, so the DH is back on track. He is second to only Jose Altuve in batting average at .335 and is ranked in the top 10 in the American League in both home runs (30) and RBI (97) this year.
Description: Twins first baseman Kennys Vargas went 2-for-4 with a RBI against Corey Kluber in Minnesota's loss to Cleveland on Thursday.
Insight: Vargas singled to score Danny Santana in the top of the first, and the Twins didn't score again until the ninth. Vargas is batting .306 with seven home runs and 35 RBI in 160 at-bats this year. The Twins and Indians will play again on Thursday.
Description: Royals 1B/DH Billy Butler has gone 34-for-79 (.430) with five doubles, two home runs and 14 RBI against Tigers starter Justin Verlander in his career.
Insight: Butler sees the ball very well against Verlander. His OPS against the former AL MVP is 1.064. Butler did not play against the Yankees on Saturday or Sunday but returns to the DH spot for this matchup on Monday.
