Edmonton, AB (SportsNetwork.com) - Jon Cornish continued his torrid stretch and the Calgary Stampeders inched closer to a West Division title with a 27-13 win over the Edmonton Eskimos at Commonwealth Stadium.
Cornish rushed for over 100 yards for a fourth straight game, finishing with 145 yards on 19 carries.
Kevin Glenn had 237 yards and one touchdown on 16-of-26 passing for the Stampeders, who improved to a CFL-best 13-3. Calgary, which secured a home playoff game, will clinch first place in the division with a Saskatchewan loss at home to British Columbia on Saturday.
Mike Reilly threw for 247 yards with a touchdown and one interception for Edmonton (3-13), which is another loss away from tying the club record of 14 set in 1963.
Rene Paredes kicked four field goals for Calgary, including a 27-yarder that accounted for all the scoring in the first quarter. The Stampeders then scored 17 straight points in the second quarter after Edmonton's Grant Shaw tied the game with a 47-yard field goal.
Glenn connected with Marquay McDaniel for a 29-yard touchdown, Paredes nailed a 32-yarder and Jamar Wall returned a blocked punt to put Calgary up 20-3.
Reilly hit Adarius Bowman for a 7-yard touchdown just before halftime and Edmonton looked to close the gap further early in the third quarter, but Shaw missed a 45-yard attempt.
With the Eskimos down 24-13 late in the fourth quarter, Shaw had a 32-yard try hit the left upright.
The Stampeders have won eight straight meetings between the Alberta rivals and seven in a row at Edmonton ... Eskimos wide receiver Fred Stamps caught seven passes for 132 yards.
