Bruins land Iginla

Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Bruins have signed forward Jarome Iginla to a one-year contract that could be worth up to $6 million.

The 36-year-old will have a base salary of $1.8 million, and it also carries incentives for another $4.2 million for a cap hit of $6 million.

Iginla finally heads to Boston, as he had turned down a trade to the city in April when he was with Calgary, and went to the Penguins instead.

Once he arrived in Pittsburgh, Iginla posted five goals and six assists in 13 games, then went on to add four goals and eight assists in the playoffs.

His goal of winning his first Stanley Cup, though, fell short as the Penguins were swept by the Bruins in the Eastern Conference championship series.

A native of Edmonton, Iginla was the 11th overall pick of the 1995 draft. He left the Flames as their all-time leader in goals (525), points (1,095) and total games (1,219), while placing second in assists (570) after spending all of his 16-plus NHL seasons in southern Alberta. He also had 28 goals and 21 assists in 54 playoff games with Calgary.
