Cowboys, Lee agree to 6-year extension

Arlington, TX (Sports Network) - The Dallas Cowboys signed middle linebacker Sean Lee to a six-year contract extension on Wednesday.

The Cowboys' official site reported the deal, which will run through the 2019 season, is worth approximately $42 million with more than $16 million guaranteed, and includes playing-time incentives that could earn Lee as much as $51 million.

Heading into his fourth pro season, Lee has racked up 195 tackles and seven interceptions over 35 games with Dallas, who selected the Pittsburgh native and Penn State product in the second round of the 2010 draft. He has held down a starting role since the 2011 campaign.

Lee was limited to six games in 2012 thanks to a right big toe injury which required season-ending surgery. He suffered what was termed a torn plantar plate in a game against the Carolina Panthers in late October.

The 27-year-old was set to enter the final year of his rookie contract.
