Matthew Stafford easily had the best fantasy point total of the week.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
While Week 10 belonged to the high draft pick, Week 11 was a time for lower draft selections to shine.
Matthew Stafford, Detroit - Stafford easily had the best fantasy point total of the week (40) after a 422-yard, five TD day, but unfortunately few fantasy owners got to celebrate with him because he is only owned in about 12% of all leagues and was started in 1.9%. Apparently not enough people read my weekly "Start Them- Sit Them" column in which I said he was a viable starter against the weak Cleveland Browns defense.
Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay - Rodgers has thrown at least one touchdown pass in every game this season and two-or-more in seven of 10 games. He's been one of the most consistent scorers all year and because he is started in almost every league, his owners have reaped the benefits. Two touchdown passes against zero interceptions, 344 yards and 28 fantasy points was just another great week for Rodgers.
Ricky Williams, Miami - When Ronnie Brown went down for the season, Ricky Williams owners dreamed of their back becoming a fantasy stud and sometimes dreams can come true. In front of a national audience on Thursday night, Williams carried the ball 22 times for 119 yards and two TDs and also caught a touchdown pass. His 36 fantasy points put him way ahead of the second-place finisher.
Kevin Smith, Detroit - The Lions quickly fell behind Cleveland by three touchdowns and for most running backs that would be a death-knell. But Smith is adept at catching the ball as well as running with it and hauled in four balls for 104 yards and a touchdown. It is Smith's first time on the FPOW list, but likely won't be his last.
Terrell Owens, Buffalo - What a disappointment Owens has been this season. As a fourth-round draft choice (RapidDraft ADP 38.3) "TO" has done almost nothing to help his team or fantasy owners all season, until now. A 98-yard TD catch will do that for you though and Owens finished the day with 197 yards on nine receptions good for 36 points. It's just the third time in 2009 that Owens has scored in double-digits.
Wes Welker, New England - The "Ultimate Possession Receiver" took over the game as the New York Jets concentrated on keeping Randy Moss under control. Welker hauled in 15 balls for 192 yards and although he didn't get into the endzone, still racked up 32 points in my league and even more in PPR leagues.
Vernon Davis, San Francisco - Davis was the 20th tight end selected on Draft Day (RapidDraft ADP 196.8), but he's No.1 among tight ends with 132 fantasy points. His 22-point day was best among tight ends in Week 11 and edged him ahead of Dallas Clark for the overall lead, who gets much more publicity because he plays with Peyton Manning and the undefeated Colts.
Kevin Boss, New York Giants - It was like Eli Manning was only looking at one receiver down in the red zone against Atlanta and that guy was tight end Kevin Boss. Boss ended up with five catches for 76 yards and two scores, good for 22 points. It was just his second double-digit point week of the year, but if Manning continues to look his way, Boss might make this list a few more times.
Rob Bironas, Tennessee - Two kicks from 50 yards-or-more gets bonus points in almost every league and gets him a mention here.
And the TSN Fantasy Player of the Week is...Miami running back Ricky Williams. He's come a long way since being sued by Miami to get a signing bonus returned after his sudden retirement from the game and he's certainly paying dividends for those fantasy owners who took a late-round flyer on him at the beginning of the season (RapidDraft ADP 121.4). He might win the award again next week with a game against the worst rushing defense in the league (Buffalo) and could be a top-five at his position throughout the playoffs with games against Jacksonville, Tennessee and Houston (none ranked in the top-12 against the run) on the schedule for Weeks 14-16.
