LaDainian Tomlinson's teammate said he would have a really good season.
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) -
There is an old 18th century saying which declares, "You must not take everything to be true that is told to you." I read articles on many of the other sites as I'm sure everyone does, and one struck me as a really foolish premise.
The idea was that LaDainian Tomlinson and Brian Westbrook would have really good years because "LT's" teammate Vincent Jackson and Westbrook's teammate Brent Celek said they really looked good.
Please...did you expect them to say that Tomlinson was looking old and slow and that Westbrook was still limping around from the off-season ankle surgery?
It's an example of listening to the wrong people.
You have done the research. You have watched the games. Why would you listen to a biased opinion?
There are valid reasons why Tomlinson will have a better year than last year. He's starting the season healthy. His quarterback, Philip Rivers, has become a star and requires defenses to prepare for the passing game. Jackson has stepped up his play and along with Antonio Gates gives the defense two formidable receivers to cover. And even in a down year with "Turf Toe" he still had 1,536 yards from scrimmage and 12 TDs.
But don't tell me the reason you are drafting him is because his teammate said he is looking strong!
Westbrook, I'm not as high on as Tomlinson. For all the reasons you've already heard dozens of times, his health, lack of practice so far this season and the addition of LeSean McCoy, I think that drafting him in the first round (RapidDraft ADP is 7.6) is too high a risk play. Even if you get McCoy, which will cost you an eighth-round selection (ADP 100.6), I'd much rather pick Chris Johnson, Steve Slaton or wide receivers Larry Fitzgerald or Randy Moss.
By the way, Westbrook will not play in the final preseason exhibition meaning he will head into the regular season without stepping onto the field for a single down.
