Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews had a breakout game against the Redskins in Week 3.
Insight: Matthews caught eight passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns. Foles targeted him nine times and at least for this game, Foles favorited Matthews over receiver Riley Cooper. If Matthews does move into the role of Foles' second favorite target, his value will rise dramatically, but keep your expectations for Matthews in check. There aren't going to many days where LeSean McCoy, Darren Sproles and Zack Ertz combine for just 86 yards.

Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews rebounded from a poor showing in the first preseason game (three drops) with nine catches for 104 yards on nine targets.
Insight: Coach Chip Kelly attributed Matthews' struggles in the opener to first-game jitters, and it appears he was right. With Jeremy Maclin, Riley Cooper and Josh Huff all banged up, Matthews is getting key reps with the first-team offense. He could have a larger role than expected early in the season and is a candidate to break out later in the year.

Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews dropped two passes and had just 14 yards on four catches in the preseason opener.
Insight: Coach Chip Kelly said Matthews may have had some first-game jitters, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer. "He was inconsistent," Kelly said. "There was a ball on the sideline he could have caught. I don't know if he was pressing, but there were some inconsistencies there. Sometimes it's the first time for guys in the bright lights so they can have a chance to play that out of their system and calm down." Matthews has received consistent praise during training camp, but his performance Friday is a reminder that he's still a rookie in an offense that is both run-heavy and has a lot of receiving weapons.

Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews has been dominating the second-team defense and played with the starters Tuesday, according to Zach Berman of The Philadelphia Inquirer.
Insight: Matthews reportedly looked like the best receiver on the team during spring practices and has continued to impress. With Riley Cooper (foot) and Jeremy Maclin (day off) sitting this practice out, Matthews got to play with the ones. By the end off the season he could overtake one of the two expected opening day starters.

Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews has been dominating the second-team defense, and beat reporter Sheil Kapadia thinks he's ready for a test against the first team.
Insight: Matthews reportedly looked like the best receiver on the team during spring practices and has continued to impress during camp. He may surpass Jeremy Maclin as the team's No. 1 receiver even if Maclin stays healthy.

Description: Eagles rookie receiver Jordan Matthews, the No. 42 overall pick in the 2014 draft, is reportedly shining at OTAs.
Insight: Jimmy Kempski of the Philadelphia Inquirer said Matthews has "looked like the best receiver on the team" and added that "it hasn't been close." His colleague Jeff McLane said Matthews has yet to drop a pass. This will be an interesting situation to watch, as the Eagles had one of the best offenses in the NFL last season and released No. 1 wideout DeSean Jackson in March. Matthews will be competing with Jeremy Maclin, who is coming off an ACL tear, and Riley Cooper, who may have hit his ceiling with 835 yards and eight touchdowns last year, for targets.

Description: The Eagles traded up to 42nd overall in the 2014 NFL Draft to select Vanderbilt receiver Jordan Matthews.
Insight: Eagles coach Chip Kelly needed a receiver after the team cut DeSean Jackson, and he wanted one with good size. Matthews is 6-foot-3 and had huge hands and set SEC all-time records with 262 catches and 3,759 yards. He should be a factor as a rookie, but we expect Jeremy Maclin to be Nick Foles' No. 1 target.
