Insight: Braun went 3-for-4 with a solo homer before leaving and has gone 10-for-26 with a double and two homers during a six-game hitting streak.

Insight: Murphy left Sunday's game with soreness in his right calf and he's scheduled to see a doctor at the stadium Tuesday. Wilmer Flores is starting at second base. The Mets are playing without Murphy and David Wright so Atlanta starter Alex Wood (3.05 ERA) could have a pretty easy time.

Description: Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira is in the lineup Tuesday against the Tigers.
Insight: Teixeira sat out Monday due to hamstring tightness. He has 20 home runs in 343 at-bats this season but has just nine doubles and is batting .233.

Insight: Wright has batted just .266 with eight homers, 56 RBI, 49 runs and a .692 OPS in 489 at-bats this season. He's been dealing with a bruised left rotator cuff for most of the year and it is obviously effecting his production.
David Ortiz, DH, BOS8/26/2014 4:20:00 PM
Description: Red Sox DH David Ortiz left Sunday's game with an apparent injury and will miss his second consecutive game.
Insight: Ortiz limped down the first base line after a single in the sixth inning and Kelly Johnson pinch ran for him. He also left Saturday's game early, but that was due to a bruised elbow caused by a hit by pitch and is unrelated. Mike Napoli will DH and Allen Craig will get the start at 1B.
Miguel Cabrera, 1B, DET8/26/2014 4:19:00 PM
Description: Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (right ankle) was not in Sunday's starting lineup, but is back on the lineup card for Tuesday's game against the NY Yankees.

Ryan Howard, 1B, PHI8/26/2014 4:16:00 PM
Description: Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard is not in Tuesday's starting lineup.
Insight: Howard simply has no clue against Washington left-hander Gio Gonzalez. He's hitless in 11 at-bats with six strikeouts. Howard has somehow managed to continue to knock in runs this season (80), despite a .222 batting average and .688 OPS.
Chase Utley, 2B, PHI8/26/2014 4:15:00 PM
Description: Phillies second baseman Chase Utley is not in Tuesday's starting lineup versus Gio Gonzalez and the Nationals.
Insight: Utley is just 3-for-17 (.176) versus the Nats tough left-hander and 3-for-21 over the past five games, so this is certainly understandable.
Scott Hairston, LF, WAS8/26/2014 4:00:00 PM
Description: Washington outfielder Scott Hairston has only started eight games all season, but if ever he's going to start another one, Tuesday against Phillies ace Cole Hamels should be the day.
Insight: Hairston is a career .386 hitter (17-for-44 ) with five home runs against the Phillies left-hander. Update: Hairston is in the starting lineup.
Asdrubal Cabrera, 2B, WAS8/26/2014 3:59:00 PM
Description: Nationals second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera wasn't in Monday's lineup due to a sore right oblique, but was healthy enough to pinch hit later in the game.
Insight: This explains why Cabrera wasn't in the starting lineup for a favorable matchup against Phillies right-hander A.J. Burnett. Update: Cabrera will make the start at 2B Tuesday.
Clint Barmes, SS, PIT8/26/2014 3:57:00 PM
Description: Pirates shortstop Clint Barmes will get his first start since returning from the disabled list.
Insight: Jordy Mercer will take a seat. Barmes missed almost two months with a groin strain. He was batting .239 with 14 runs scored and four RBI in 42 games. That isn't fantasy worthy.
Nolan Reimold, LF, TOR8/26/2014 11:49:00 AM
Description: Blue Jays has designated outfielder Nolan Reimold for assignment.
Insight: We thought Reimold was going to be someone to watch back in 2009 when he hit 15 home runs and posted an .831 OPS in just 358 at-bats, but in the five years since then he's been nothing but a bit player without much fantasy value. This could be the end of the road.
Josh Rutledge, 2B, COL8/26/2014 11:13:00 AM
Description: Rockies shortstop Josh Rutledge is 8-for-17 (.471) with three extra-base hits against Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner.
Insight: Rutledge hasn't exactly been tearing the cover off the ball, batting .242 over the past two weeks, but he likes facing Bumgarner and the wind is blowing out to dead center today.
Adrian Gonzalez, 1B, LOSHot8/26/2014 11:10:00 AM
Description: Los Angeles first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is a lifetime .458 hitter against Arizona starter Trevor Cahill, including a pair of long balls and seven RBI.
Insight: Gonzalez is putting together his best month since April, batting .325 with an .897 OPS. For the season he's hitting .275 with 18 homers, 89 RBI and a .795 OPS. Start him in this favorable matchup.
Alcides Escobar, SS, KAN8/26/2014 11:08:00 AM
Description: Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar is 7-for-14 (.500) with three extra-basae hits versus Minnesota right-hander Ricky Nolasco.
Insight: Escobar is hitting .274 with 43 RBI, 58 runs and 24 steals on the year and could be a viable fantasy option.
Michael Brantley, LF, CLEHot8/26/2014 11:04:00 AM
Description: Cleveland left fielder Michael Brantley is 7-for-15 (.467) with three extra-base hits against White Sox left-hander Jose Quintana.
Insight: Brantley received a rountine day off Sunday so should be well rested. He has already set career highs in homers (18), RBI (80), runs (78) and should end up with a career-best OPS.
Evan Gattis, C, ATL8/26/2014 11:01:00 AM
Description: Braves catcher Evan Gattis is just 1-for-12 against Mets starter Dillon Gee.
Insight: Gattis has struggled since he returned from a bulging disk in his back, but his second consecutive 20 home run season makes him a top fantasy backstop. Avoid him Tuesday in this poor matchup.
Anthony Rizzo, 1B, CHC8/26/2014 10:59:00 AM
Description: Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is having a great season, but his Tuesday matchup with Reds right-hander Johnny Cueto should be avoided.
Insight: Rizzo has a career-high 29 home runs and 70 RBI, but he's 1-for-15 (.067) against Cueto.
Jacoby Ellsbury, CF, NYYHot8/26/2014 10:56:00 AM
Description: Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury went 3-for-5 with a homer and three RBI Monday at Kansas City and has a favorable matchup Tuesday against Tigers starter Rick Porcello.
Insight: Ellsbury is 8-for-13 (.615) with a pair of homers against Porcello. He's hit .280 with 25 doubles, two triples, 11 dingers, 58 RBI and 35 steals in 126 games. Beware, the weather forecast calls for a 70-80 percent chance of rain.
Victor Martinez, DH, DETHot8/26/2014 10:54:00 AM
Description: Tigers DH Victor Martinez is on fire and has a nice matchup against Yankees starter Brandon McCarthy.
Insight: Martinez is a career .375 hitter against the Yankees starter. He's batted .409 over the past two weeks and for the season is hitting .328 with a career-high 25 HR along with 84 RBI. Beware, the weather forecast calls for a 70-80 percent chance of rain.
Torii Hunter, RF, DET8/26/2014 10:50:00 AM
Description: Detroit right fielder Torii Hunter is 8-for-19 with a 1.187 OPS versus Yankees right-hander Brandon McCarthy.
Insight: Hunter started out ice cold this month, but he's gone 8-for-22 (.364) this week. Beware, the weather forecast calls for a 70-80 percent chance of rain.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, BOS8/26/2014 10:47:00 AM
Description: Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is a career .143 hitter (3-for-21) against R.A. Dickey's knuckleball.
Insight: We expect more from Pedroia than the .280 batting average with six homers, 47 RBI, 68 runs scored and five steals. He will probably never again reach the level we remember from 2011 (.307, 21 HR, 91 RBI, 102 runs, 26 SB). Avoid this matchup.
Andrew McCutchen, CF, PIT8/26/2014 10:43:00 AM
Description: Pirates outfielder Andrew McCutchen is just 4-for-29 (.138) versus Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn.
Insight: McCutchen has been hot with three home runs in his last four games, but this matchup is not a good won for the MVP outfielder.
Neil Walker, 2B, PIT8/26/2014 10:40:00 AM
Description: Pirates second baseman Neil Walker is a career .308 hitter (8-for-26) with two home runs among five extra-base hits versus Cardinals right-hander Lance Lynn.
Insight: Walker has already set a career mark for home runs with 17 and his OPS (.805) is the highest it's been in four seasons.
Scott Hairston, LF, WAS8/26/2014 10:36:00 AM
Description: Washington outfielder Scott Hairston has only started eight games all season, but if ever he's going to start another one, Tuesday against Phillies ace Cole Hamels should be the day.
Insight: Hairston is a career .386 hitter (17-for-44 ) with five home runs against the Phillies left-hander.
Ryan Howard, 1B, PHI8/26/2014 10:33:00 AM
Description: Phillies first baseman Ryan Howard should be avoided Tuesday in an ugly matchup.
Insight: Howard simply has no clue against Washington left-hander Gio Gonzalez. He's hitless in 11 at-bats with six strikeouts. Howard has somehow managed to continue to knock in runs this season (80), despite a .222 batting average and .688 OPS.
Ben Revere, CF, PHIHot8/26/2014 10:31:00 AM
Description: Phillies center fielder Ben Revere is a career .438 hitter versus Nationals left-hander Gio Gonzalez.
Insight: The surprising Revere is batting .311 this season and .344 against left-handers. You still won't see much/any power from him, but he's collected 38 steals in 43 attempts.
Adam Jones, CF, BAL8/26/2014 10:28:00 AM
Description: Orioles center fielder Adam Jones is a career .211 hitter (4-for-19) without an extra-base hit versus Rays starter Alex Cobb.
Insight: Another solid season from Jones - .288, 24 HR, 78 RBI, .796 OPS. He's been hot this week, batting .391 over the past six games, but this isn't a great matchup.
Brett Gardner, LF, NYYCold8/26/2014 9:54:00 AM
Description: Yankees left fielder Brett Gardner (ankle) was not in the lineup Monday, but hopes to be back Tuesday after missing the past two games.
Insight: He said his ankle is feeling much better. Gardner hit .294 with 11 homers, 26 RBI and 33 runs from June 15 to Aug. 4, but he's gone 15 straight games without getting multiple hits and batted .172 in that span.
Miguel Cabrera, 1B, DET8/26/2014 9:50:00 AM
Description: Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera (right ankle) was not in Sunday's starting lineup, but is probable for Tuesday's game against the NY Yankees.
Insight: We'd call this an "off" year for the two-time MVP, batting .308 with 17 home runs, 88 RBI and an .876 OPS this season, but most mortals would love to be able to produce at this level.
Asdrubal Cabrera, 2B, WAS8/26/2014 9:47:00 AM
Description: Nationals second baseman Asdrubal Cabrera wasn't in Monday's lineup due to a sore right oblique, but was healthy enough to pinch hit later in the game.
Insight: This explains why Cabrera wasn't in the starting lineup for a favorable matchup against Phillies right-hander A.J. Burnett. With a quality backup like Danny Espinosa, the Nats probably won't rush Cabrera back to the lineup until he's fully healthy.
Shane Robinson, CF, STL8/26/2014 9:44:00 AM
Description: Cardinals outfielder Shane Robinson is expected to be placed on the 15-day disabled list with a dislocated left shoulder.
Insight: Robinson, batting .150 in 60 at-bats, has been buried on the depth chart and isn't getting playing time so this injury shouldn't change any rosters or lineups.
David Wright, 3B, NYM8/26/2014 9:42:00 AM
Description: Mets third baseman David Wright left Sunday's game with neck spasms and is questionable for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: Wright has batted just .266 with eight homers, 56 RBI, 49 runs and a .692 OPS in 489 at-bats this season. He's been dealing with a bruised left rotator cuff for most of the year and it is obviously effecting his production.
Daniel Murphy, 2B, NYMHot8/26/2014 9:38:00 AM
Description: Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy left Sunday's game with a sore right calf and is questionable for Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Insight: Murphy, the NL leader in hits, has a modest five-game hitting streak (8-for-21) and a favorable matchup with Braves starter Alex Wood (5-for-11), so is a viable fantasy option if in the lineup.
Ryan Braun, RF, MIL8/26/2014 9:30:00 AM
Description: Brewers outfielder Ryan Braun lashed out three hits including a home run, but left Monday's game with a bruised left quadriceps.
Insight: Braun has a six-game hitting streak (10-for-26) to raise his average to .282 with 17 HR and 74 RBI. Nice totals for most players, but we expect more from the Brewers' slugger.
Jedd Gyorko, 2B, SDP8/26/2014 9:28:00 AM
Description: Padres second baseman Jedd Gyorko (hamstring) was not in the starting lineup Monday against the Brewers, but did pinch hit.
Insight: Gyorko tweaked his left hamstring on Thursday in Los Angeles and had been out of the lineup the past three games. He's obviously close to returning.
Dustin Pedroia, 2B, BOS8/25/2014 10:55:00 PM
Description: Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia went 1-for-5 with a two-run homer Monday at Toronto.
Insight: Pedroia's home run total has decreased in two straight seasons and likely will again in 2014 unless he hits three over his last 31 games. He has six in 127 games this season.
Koji Uehara, RP, BOSCold8/25/2014 10:54:00 PM
Description: Boston closer Koji Uehara blew his second straight save Monday at Toronto, but he picked up his sixth win of the year.
Insight: Uehara didn't exactly enter into the best situation, as Clay Buchholz had loaded the bases with one out in a 3-0 game. But those types of leads are usually safe with Uehara when he's on point. The 39-year-old has allowed seven runs on 10 hits in his last 3 1/3 innings.
Clay Buchholz, SP, BOS 8/25/2014 10:50:00 PM
Description: Boston starter Clay Buchholz took a shutout and a 3-0 lead into the ninth inning Monday at Toronto, but he loaded the bases with one out and closer Koji Uehara allowed the Blue Jays to tie the score.
Insight: Buchholz continues to be incredibly inconsistent. He's given up at least six runs three times in his last six starts but allowed three or less and lasted seven or more innings in the other three during that span.
Mookie Betts, CF, BOS8/25/2014 10:47:00 PM
Description: Red Sox center fielder Mookie Betts went 1-for-3 with a solo homer and a steal Monday at Toronto.
