Description: Mike Cameron has been designated for assignment by the Red Sox. SOURCE: Pete Abraham on Twitter
Insight: Cameron has not gotten much playing time and has not performed well when he has. A move to another club could help him, but until another team grabs him, he has no value.

Description: The Red Sox don't plan on trading Mike Cameron this spring. SOURCE: BOSTON GLOBE
Insight: It makes sense - a 4th OF is probably where he should be at this point in his career. He can spell any of the starters and offers reliable defense. If Boston wants to win the AL East, he will be a necessary part of their plans.

Description: Red Sox manager Terry Francona said Mike Cameron figures to get considerable time in right field, especially when the Red Sox face a left-handed pitcher. SOURCE: Boston Herald
Insight: If Cameron and Drew platoon in right field for Boston, both of them will have their values limited to AL-only leagues or deep, deep mixed leagues.

Description: The Red Sox have OF depth so Mike Cameron could be dealt. SOURCE: Boston Globe
Insight: Cameron is the 4th OF for Boston right now and Ryan Kalish, who is younger, could fill the same role as Cameron. His value lies in deeper mixed leagues or AL-only leagues on draft day, unless a trade occurs.

Description: Now that the Red Sox have a crowded outfield other teams have called to inquire on the availability of Mike Cameron. SOURCE: Jayson Stark via Twitter
Insight: Cameron and Jacoby Ellsbury were both hurt for a significant period of time last year so expect the Sox to keep them both, unless a team is willing to overpay for either one.

8/18/2010 5:57:00 PM
Description: Red Sox OF Mike Cameron will have season-ending surgery for his abdominal injury in an attempt to get him ready for next season. SOURCE: Yahoo Sports
