CFL Game Summary - Winnipeg at Saskatchewan

Regina, SK (Sports Network) - Wes Cates gained 76 yards and scored on 16 rushes, and also had 84 yards on six grabs to lead the Saskatchewan Roughriders in a 29-14 win over the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Darian Durant completed 23-of-37 passes for 246 yards, a touchdown and an interception for the 'Riders (5-4), who have alternated wins and losses for the past six games. Steven Jyles also had a rushing TD in the triumph. John Chick had a pair of sacks to increase his CFL-leading total to eight on the year.

Michael Bishop ended 20-of-33 for 329 yards, a TD and three picks for the Blue Bombers, who have just two wins over their last seven games. Adarius Bowman had five grabs for 121 yards and a score, while Terrence Edwards garnered 120 yards on eight catches.

Saskatchewan was up 14-4 after the first quarter, thanks to Jyles' one-yard TD and Cates' three-yard score opposite a 48-yard Alexis Serna field goal and a single for Winnipeg.

The Roughriders added a 21-yard Luca Congi field goal and a single in the second to assume an 18-4 lead at the break.

Serna's 17-yard kick closed it to 18-7 early in the third quarter.

Bowman's 18-yard TD reception from Bishop midway through the third capped a five-play, 94-yard drive that closed it to 18-14.

Durant had a 13-yard scoring strike to Weston Dressler late in the third to make it a 25-14 affair heading to the final 15 minutes of play.

Congi added a 29-yard field goal midway through the fourth to make it a 14- point difference. A single later in the quarter made it a 15-point margin.

Game Notes

Saskatchewan plays the Bombers again next week in Winnipeg...Winnipeg's Fred Reid gained 41 yards on 12 carries and leads the league in rushing with 877 yards, three better than BC's Martell Mallett.
