Description: There is speculation that the Raiders could attempt to sign recently-released WR Torry Holt. SOURCE: CONTRA COSTA TIMES
Insight: We highly doubt it, but it is the Raiders. Holt was expected to undergo knee surgery this week, making it even less likely he signs with anyone. He should follow his former Rams teammate Isaac Bruce and call it quits.

Description: The Patriots placed WR Torry Holt on injured reserve with a knee injury. SOURCE: USA TODAY
Insight: At 34, this should finally end Holt's career as an NFL receiver.

Description: Patriots WR Torry Holt is still predicted to be off the Patriots' final roster. SOURCE: ESPN BOSTON
Insight: Wes Welker's early recovery will push Holt out the door faster than originally thought. And because he doesn't play special teams, Holt will be pushed aside by Sam Aiken and Matthew Slater.

Description: SI.com's Don Banks believes Torry Holt could be fighting rookie Taylor Price for the final receiver spot this summer

Description: Torry Holt and David Patten will be used as outside receivers in the Patriots' offense, according to Tom Brady.
Insight: The time has come for both of these old warhorses to think about heading to pasture. Once Wes Welker returns, both could become roster casualties. (SportsBuff.com)

4/23/2010 7:27:00 PM
Description: Coach Bill Belichick indicated that the addition of Torry Holt had nothing to do with his decision to pass on Dez Bryant in the draft
Insight: Expect the Patriots to find some more receiving help later in the draft. Holt will be a decent fill-in playing third filddle to Randy Moss and Julian Edelman until Wes Welker gets back. (sportsBuff.com)

4/20/2010 8:10:00 PM
Description: The Patriots have reportedly agreed to terms with WR Torry Holt, formerly of the Jaguars, on a one-year, $1.7 million contract.
Insight: The Pats just want to make sure they have enough depth if Wes Welker can?t return until after Week 7. Holt is not a great match for the scheme they run and won?t deflect much heat off Randy Moss. (sportsBuff.com)

3/26/2010 8:19:00 PM
Description: Holt?s name has been linked to the Patriots as a possible landing spot for him, according to NFL.com.
Insight: New England is probably the best place for him at this point in his career. With Wes Welker out until possibly Week 7, there will be opportunity to get some action for the aging former star. (SportsBuff.com)

3/11/2010 3:19:00 PM
Description: ESPN.com reports Holt continues to lobby for the Bears to sign him.
Insight: Holt is familiar with Bears' offensive coordinator Mike Martz's system from their days together in St. Louis. But he is clearly not the player he once was and may just take playing time away from a younger player. (SportsBuff.com)

2/12/2010 11:59:00 AM
Description: Brad Biggs of the Chicago Sun Times doesn't think the Bears will pursue Holt.
Insight: Holt, who will turn 34 in June, was released by the Jaguars on Thursday. He is clearly in decline in recent years, and may not find many suitors on the open market. (SportsBuff.com)

Description: Holt (finger) has been ruled out for Week 17.
Insight: The soon-to-be 34 year old is starting to slow down quite a bit. He will finish this season with 51 catches (the lowest total of his career) and only one touchdown. (SportsBuff.com)

12/29/2009 8:33:00 AM
Description: Holt caught two passes for 23 yards on Sunday against the Patriots.

Description: Holt caught three passes for 38 yards on Thursday against the Colts.

Insight: Holt has topped 50 yards only once in his last six games. (SportsBuff.com)

Insight: Holt has only 54 receiving yards over his past two games and has yet to find the endzone this season. (SportsBuff.com)

10/18/2009 11:09:00 AM
Description: Holt faces the Rams today for the first time as a member of another team.
Insight: This matchup could present a bit more motivation for the veteran and perhaps a bit of motivation for the team to look his way. Ultimately, he's a fine PPR option against a weak Rams defense but a somewhat weak play in other formats by virtue of not yet catching a touchdown. (SportsBuff.com)

10/11/2009 4:27:00 PM
Description: Teammate Mike Sims-Walker has unexpectedly been deactivated for the team's Week 5 game.
Insight: Holt should be in line for more passing looks at Seattle and might finally reach the end zone for the first time this season. (SportsBuff.com)

6/20/2009 4:01:00 PM
Description: The team's official site reports that QB David Garrard seems to be looking Holt's way often in workouts.
Insight: This isn't surprising, considering the team has little else at the position. It is good news for Holt's fantasy value, though. Many seem to be seeing too much of 2008 Torry Holt when drafting so far, and the former Ram could wind up a steal. (SportsBuff.com)
