Notes:
Harrell had the luxury of operating in one of the most passer-friendly systems NCAA football has ever known, allowing him to reel in the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award as the top senior quarterback in the nation in 2008...The signal-caller was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, finishing fourth in the voting, the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien Awards as well...In a Big 12 Conference that had several top-flight passers in recent years, Harrell still managed to finish his career as one of the most successful in college football history with his 134 passing touchdowns and 15,793 yards, number that have him ranked first and second, respectively, in NCAA FBS history...Harrell is the only player in NCAA history to have passed for at least 5,000 yards in two different seasons...On a unit that averaged about 45 ppg in 2008, Harrell had to shoulder much of the offensive load for the Red Raiders, even as they posted a significant number of rushing touchdowns, mostly because the scheme of the offense forced opponents to sit back and anticipate a pass more often than not...An All-Big 12 Conference Second Team choice in 2007, he threw for at least 400 yards in all but two games that season...Harrell put together the strongest sophomore season in school history as well with his 4,555 yards and 38 touchdowns after seeing very limited action as a redshirt freshman in 2005...Texas Tech has had a number of quarterbacks put up gaudy numbers, only to be thought of as products of the system and little more.
