Lee, Young named NBA Players of the Week
New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Golden State Warriors forward David Lee and Philadelphia 76ers forward Thaddeus Young have been named the NBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the period ending Jan. 5.
Lee averaged 24.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists while leading the Warriors to a 4-0 record with road wins over the Orlando Magic, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and Washington Wizards. He also aided in extending the team's winning streak to nine games.
The 30-year-old recorded a pair of double-double games, including a 32-point, 14-rebound performance during a 123-114 victory over Miami on Jan. 2.
Young averaged a conference-best 25 points per game on 56.6 percent shooting from the field in three 76ers victories, adding 7.7 rebounds and 3.67 steals over that span. All three wins came on the road against the Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings and Portland Trail Blazers.
Other nominees for the awards included Brooklyn's Deron Williams, the Los Angeles Lakers' Pau Gasol, Miami's LeBron James, New York's Carmelo Anthony and Iman Shumpert, Oklahoma City's Kevin Durant, Phoenix's Goran Dragic and Toronto's Kyle Lowry.
