Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez will get the day off on Friday.
Insight: Rodriguez has gotten a lot of rest recently as he sat out Tuesday, and the Yankees didn't play on Thursday. He barely plays anyway because all he does is DH. Garrett Jones will be the designated hitter on Friday, though, and Rodriguez will play on Saturday.

4/15/2015 11:59:00 PM
Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a homer in the loss on Wednesday against the Orioles.
Insight: Rodriguez now has two home runs on the season. He has arguable been the best Yankees hitter this season. Rodriguez is hitting .286 with two home runs and seven RBI.

4/12/2015 10:30:00 AM
Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez is 10-for-25 with two home runs in his career versus Red Sox starter Clay Buchholz.
Insight: Rodriguez played first base on Saturday, but should return to DH on Sunday night. Expect him to have some good at-bats versus Buchholz. A-Rod is leading the Yankees with a .278 batting average.

4/11/2015 11:35:00 AM
Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez is starting at first base on Saturday.
Insight: Given that the Red Sox and Yankees went 19 innings last night expect a lot of changes for Saturday afternoon's game.

4/9/2015 10:03:00 PM
Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez smacked his first homer of the season.
Insight: He did so in a loss to Toronto. Rodriguez went 1-for-3 and tallied his first home run and RBI of 2015. He batted in the two-hole on Thursday night.

4/8/2015 11:20:00 AM
Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez has eight hits, including two doubles and a home run, in 22 at-bats versus Blue Jays pitcher R.A. Dickey.
Insight: Rodriguez does also have six strikeouts against Dickey, but he should be started on Wednesday. Rodriguez singled on Monday, so he is off to a decent start.

4/6/2015 5:13:00 PM
Description: Yankees designated hitter Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-2 in his return to the field on Opening Day Monday.
Insight: Rodriguez was met with a standing ovation from the Yankee faithful at "The Stadium". What a joke. But from a fantasy stand point, Rodriguez has value at a weak third base spot. He had a solid spring and knocked in a run with the single on Monday. That turned out to be the Yankees only run of the game.

3/25/2015 3:43:00 PM
Description: Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Alex Rodriguez can be the team's regular designated hitter this season according to the Wall Street Journal.
Insight: Rodriguez is hitting .286 with two home runs and a double in 33 plate appearances this spring. Rodriguez is going to turn 40 and both his hips have already been surgically repaired, so he could benefit from a full season just hitting.

3/11/2015 5:27:00 PM
Description: Yankees 3B/DH Alex Rodriguez hit his first homer of the spring.
Insight: He did so off Brandon Workman in the fourth inning. Rodriguez has hit well this spring (.455 BA), and will likely open up the season as New York's designated hitter.

3/4/2015 2:54:00 PM
Description: Yankees 3B/DH Alex Rodriguez went 1-for-2 with a walk in his return to action on Wednesday.
Insight: The hit was a single, and Rodriguez batted second in the lineup Wednesday against Philadelphia. Look for the Yankees to get him plenty of at-bats throughout spring training, as they try and figure out what to do with him this season.

3/2/2015 5:50:00 PM
Description: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez will play Wednesday versus Philadelphia.
Insight: This will be his Grapefruit League debut. Look for Rodriguez to start at DH and see two-to-three at-bats.

2/28/2015 12:35:00 PM
Description: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez took some reps at first base.
Insight: A-Rod is expected to work mostly as a DH, but the ability to play both first and third could add playing time. Whether he can still be a valuable fantasy option is up in the air as he hasn't played since September 2013.

2/23/2015 1:59:00 PM
Description: Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez reported to training camp Monday.
Insight: The circus is officially in town. It remains to be seen what the slugger still has in the tank. His last official at-bat was Sept 25, 2013. Over his last three seasons, he hit .269 with a total of 41 homers and a .796 OPS. Fantasy owners should watch closely, but do not touch.

10/10/2014 5:17:00 PM
Description: Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said Friday that he is "open to pursuing third base options" according to Newsday.
Insight: CBS' Jon Heyman reported this week that the Yankees were interested in bringing back Chase Headley to play third. There is a high possibility that A-Rod will be playing at the DH spot, if that counts as playing, or possibility even moving to first base. The Yankees cannot count on him staying healthy an entire season at third base.

9/29/2014 9:40:00 PM
Description: Yankees manager Joe Girardi told ESPN New York on Monday that he expects Alex Rodriguez to be the team's third baseman next season.
Insight: Girardi went on to say A-Rod doesn't automatically have the job, but he should be able to be the everyday third baseman if healthy. Even though this news likely makes Yankee fans want to puke, the team could really use a power right-handed bat. That's if Rodriguez can be somewhat of his old self. Reality seems to have set in for Rodriguez, who must have figured out he stood almost no chance of winning this case in federal court. A-Rod will sit out the entire 2014 season as he serves a 162-game PED suspension. Rodriguez will not be reporting to spring training later this month.

Description: According to a Yahoo! report, MLB players reps wanted to kick New York third baseman Alex Rodriguez out of the union during a call last week.
Insight: Union leadership apparently told the players that approach wasn't legally possible, but it explains how many of the today's players are feeling. There doesn't appear to be much player support for A-Rod.
