Phoenix, AZ (Sports Network) - Marco Scutaro knocked in three runs and Dexter
Fowler went 3-for-5 and scored twice as the Rockies beat the Diamondbacks,
4-2, to snap Arizona's eight-game home winning streak.
Jeff Francis (3-2) pitched six-plus effective innings to earn his first
victory since July 3. The lefty allowed five hits, including solo homers
to Jason Kubel and Miguel Montero, and had four strikeouts.
"Other than the two pitches I gave the homers up, I thought I executed well,"
Francis said. "The guys made some good plays behind me."
The Rockies, who lost their previous three contests, salvaged the finale of
this three-game set by receiving strong bullpen work from Adam Ottavino, Matt
Belisle and Rafael Betancourt. The trio combined to allow no hits with
Betancourt securing his 17th save of the season.
Montero had three hits, but the Diamondbacks had their five-game victory
string snapped. Trevor Cahill (8-9) yielded eight hits and four runs over 6
Fowler led off the game by tripling to right field and Scutaro followed with a
"I just made a couple of mistakes and paid for it," Cahill said. "The triple
was tough, but then I thought I made my pitches, but wasn't able to get out of
that jam. My stuff feels good, but other than that I don't know what you can

Wilin Rosario homered to left with two outs in the fourth for a 4-1 cushion
before Francis escaped trouble in the bottom half. Montero singled to put
runners at the corners with two down, but Chris Young then flied out to right
Montero led off the bottom of the seventh with a homer to right, prompting the
Rockies to immediately go to Ottavino. The only base runner the rest of the
night for Arizona came when Montero walked with two outs in the ninth. Young
struck out swinging to end the game.
Montero set the Arizona franchise record for games caught with 538, passing
Chris Snyder...Francis threw 64 of his 97 pitches for strikes...Earlier
Wednesday, it was announced the Diamondbacks will host the first round
of the 2013 World Baseball Classic at Chase Field and Salt River Fields.
