NCAA Game Summary - Fresno State at Louisiana Tech

Ruston, LA (Sports Network) - Robbie Rouse ran for a career-high 286 yards on 43 carries, scoring once as he led the Fresno State Bulldogs to a 40-34 victory over the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs in a Western Athletic Conference tussle at Joe Aillet Stadium.
Quarterback Ryan Colburn threw for 229 yards, three touchdowns and one interception on 20-of-33 passing for Fresno State (6-2, 4-1 WAC), while Jamel Hamler caught eight receptions for 118 and three scores in the win.
Louisiana Tech (3-6, 2-3) was led by quarterback Ross Jenkins who threw three touchdowns and one pick while completing 16 of his 30 pass attempts for 176 yards. Receiver Taulib Ikharo caught three passes, all for scores, in the defeat.
Louisiana Tech opened the scoring on a 28-yard touchdown strike from Jenkins to Ikharo, taking the early 7-0 lead. Less than two minutes later Ikharo recovered a fumble in the end zone to move LaTech out to a 14-0 advantage.
Fresno State bounced back when Colburn connected with Hamler on a six-yard pass for a score, capping a 10-play, 80-yard drive. A 49-yard field goal from Fresno State kicker Kevin Goessling at the 9:09 mark of the second frame left the visitors with a 14-10 deficit at the break.
Fresno State took a 17-14 advantage after Colburn hooked up with Hamler again, this time from 10 yards out.
Jenkins combined with Ikharo for a 20-yard touchdown completion as Louisiana Tech jumped back into the lead, 21-17, heading into the fourth frame
Colburn ran for a one-yard score to open the final quarter, putting Fresno State back in the lead, 24-21. Goessling followed with his second field goal of the day, this time from 27 yards out as Fresno State moved out to a 27-21 lead. Hamler caught his third touchdown as he and Colburn combined on a 33- yard pass, providing the visitors with a 33-21 advantage following a missed extra point.
Tech was able to temporarily stop the bleeding when, on the ensuing kickoff, Phillip Livas returned it 95 yards for a TD, cutting the deficit to 33-28.
Rouse scored his only touchdown of the night on 51-yard dash with 2:20 remaining as Fresno State took a comfortable 40-28 advantage.
Jenkins connected with Richie Casey on a 19-yard touchdown strike with 1:12 left on the clock, but it wasn't enough as Fresno State held on for the six- point victory and made itself bowl eligible.
LaTech controlled the ball for less than 19 minutes, converted just 4-of-13 on third down and allowed FSU to generate 300 yards on the ground and 529 yards of offense overall.
