Monroe, LA (Sports Network) - Kolton Browning threw for 282 yards and one
touchdown on 25-of-41 passing as the UL-Monroe Warhawks edged the Florida
Atlantic Owls, 20-17, in a Sun Belt Conference tilt at Malone Stadium.
Anthony McCall had five receptions for 96 yards for ULM (2-3, 1-1 SBC).
Florida Atlantic (1-4, 0-2) was led by Alfred Morris, as he rushed for 153
yards and two scores on 30 carries in the loss. Quarterback Jeff VanCamp
completed 13-of-26 pass attempts for 141 yards and one interception.
There was no score heading into the second quarter until ULM defensive end Ken
Dorsey was able to sack VanCamp in the endzone for the safety.
Brent Leonard made the score 9-0 in favor of ULM after catching a seven-yard
touchdown pass from Browning.
Radi Jabour gave the Warhawks a 12-0 advantage heading into the intermission
after connecting on a 30-yard field goal with 33 seconds remaining in the
Florida Atlantic finally was able to get on the scoreboard when Ross Gornall
split the uprights from 28 yards out early in the third quarter.
Morris propelled Florida Atlantic to a 17-12 lead after scampering for two
consecutive rushing touchdowns. The first came later in the third stanza on a
one-yard run, while the go-ahead score came on a three-yard run with 10:26
remaining in the fourth quarter.
Jyruss Edwards, however, put the Warhawks up for good with just under three
minutes remaining in the affair, as he found his way to paydirt on a five-yard
run. Browning then found Leonard to complete the two-point conversion, as the
Warhawks held on to the lead and a 20-17 victory.
