NCAA Game Summary - Louisville at Arkansas State

Jonesboro, AL (Sports Network) -Adam Froman threw for 308 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Louisville Cardinals to a 34-24 decision over the Arkansas State Red Wolves in non-league action at ASU Stadium.

Bilal Powell led the ground game for Louisville (2-2), rushing for 157 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries. Josh Bellamy hauled in two of Froman's TD passes and finished the contest with 66 yards on four receptions.

As for the Red Wolves (1-3), they were led by Ryan Aplin, who threw for 209 yards and three scores. However, the signal caller also tossed two interceptions in the loss.

Louisville tallied the only 10 points in the first quarter, as Chris Philpott opened the scoring by nailing a 28-yard kick.

That was followed by an 11-yard touchdown pass from Froman to Bellamy later in the quarter.

Arkansas State finally got on the scoreboard early in the second stanza, when Aplin hit Allen Muse for a 33-yard scoring strike.

However, the Cardinals replied with three consecutive touchdowns, beginning with a 47-yard run by Powell.

Powell struck again, but this time he was on the receiving end of a 57-yard pass from Froman, with just over three minutes remaining in the second quarter.

The Cardinals pushed their lead to 31-7 in the final seconds of the first half when Froman and Bellamy hooked up once again, this time scoring on a 21-yard pass and catch.

The Red Wolves fought back in the third quarter, as Aplin threw two touchdowns, cutting ASU's deficit to 31-21.

The first score was a 15-yard pass to Muse early in the frame, and that was followed by a 24-yard scoring strike to Taylor Stockemer in the final seconds of the quarter.

Arkansas State continued its comeback in the fourth quarter when Bobby Zalud's 35-yard field goal cut the team's deficit to seven points.

However, the Cardinals finished off ASU when Philpott connected on a 46-yard kick with just under four minutes remaining in the contest. The 10-point lead would hold, as the Red Wolves ran out of gas down the stretch.
