Boulder, CO (Sports Network) - Rodney Stewart ran for 149 yards and a
touchdown and generated 180 yards in total offense as the Colorado Buffaloes
held off the Georgia Bulldogs, 29-27, in a non-conference test at Folsom
Tyler Hansen was 13-of-20 through the air for the Buffaloes (3-1), who won
consecutive games for the first time since 2008 when they opened the season
with three straight wins.
Caleb King ran for 100 yards on 12 carries for the Bulldogs (1-4), who have
now lost four straight. Aaron Murray was 16-of-27 through the air for 221
yards and three touchdowns. A.J. Green, who returned to the lineup after
serving a four-game suspension, caught seven balls for 119 yards and two
The Buffaloes got on the board when Hansen found Matthew Bahr with a four-yard
scoring pass midway through the first period.
The Bulldogs responded with Blair Walsh's 33-yard field goal with just under
five minutes left in the opening quarter.
Colorado extended its lead to 14-3 when Brian Lockridge scored from a yard out
two minutes into the second quarter.
Murray answered back for Georgia with a three-yard touchdown pass to Green
that made it a 14-10 game with 11 minutes left in the first half.
Murray and Green hooked up again three minutes later on a 39-yard touchdown
connection that gave the Bulldogs a 17-14 lead.
Murray's eight-yard scoring pass to Marlon Brown four-and-a-half minutes into
the third quarter extended Georgia's lead to 24-14,
Hanson brought the Buffs closer with a two-yard run midway through the third
quarter and Cody Hawkins followed up with a two-point conversion pass to Ryan
Deehan. That made the score 24-22 in favor of the visiting Bulldogs.
Stewart put the hosts in front 29-24 with an 11-yard run with four-and-a-half
minutes left in the third period.
Walsh added a 20-yard field goal for the Bulldogs two-and-a-half minutes into
the fourth quarter, bringing the score to its final of 29-27.
Georgia outgained Colorado 409 yards to 393 yards.
