Following a quiet opening period of play, the Warhawks took a 7-0 lead with a nine-yard Revell run early in the second period of play.

But it was the Hilltoppers with a 12-7 halftime lead following four unanswered field goals from 43, 35, 39 and 41 yards out by Casey Tinius.

The Warhawks regained the lead early in the final period of play after a 48- yard Goodin run.

But a one-yard Brandon Smith plunge midway through the frame gave WKU an 18-14 advantage.

Lovett found the end zone for the decisive score with just over five minutes remaining in the contest on a three-yard scamper, giving ULM a three-point lead, and eventually the victory.
