With five minutes remaining in the quarter, Kerley gave the Horned Frogs a 12-7 lead with the 71-yard punt return. The two-point conversion failed. The Horned Frogs took the same lead into the locker room.

TCU started to put it together in the third quarter. Matthew Tucker ran for an 11-yard touchdown with 10:45 left in the quarter. The two-point conversion again failed as the Horned Frogs led 18-7.

With three minutes remaining in the quarter Turner scored on a one-yard run. The extra point was good, giving TCU a 25-7 lead.

SMU finished the scoring in the third quarter with a four-yard scoring pass from Mitchell to Emmanuel Sanders to make the score 25-14 with 34 seconds remaining.

Two more touchdowns for TCU in the final quarter put the game out of reach. The Horned Frogs got a 28-yard touchdown pass from Dalton to Hicks with 13:15 left in the game. The final scoring play was a one-yard pass from Dalton to Luke Shivers with 8:21 remaining.

Game Notes

Sanders caught eight passes for 74 yards and McNeal had 70 yards receiving on three catches. In terms of the all-time series between these two programs, the Frogs are ahead by a count of 43-39-7, dating back to a 43-0 thumping of the Mustangs in 1915. Aside from 1987 and 1988 when the Ponies did not field a team, 2006 stands as the only year since 1925 that these two rivals have not faced each other. TCU Coach Gary Patterson stands at 7-1 all-time against SMU.
