Manhattan, KS (Sports Network) - Blaine Gabbert threw for 298 yards and three
touchdowns, as the Missouri Tigers upended the Kansas State Wildcats, 38-12,
in Big 12 play at Bill Snyder Family Stadium
Gabbert hit on 20-of-27 pass attempts for the Tigers (6-4, 2-4 Big 12), who
are now eligible for their school-record fifth straight bowl game. Danario
Alexander had another big time game for Missouri, as he pulled in 10 balls for
200 yards and three touchdowns.
Daniel Thomas, the Big 12's leading rusher was held to just 79 yards on 23
carries, as KSU's (6-5, 4-3) North Division title hopes took a hit. The
Wildcats will face Nebraska next weekend in a bout that could determine the
The two teams traded field goals in the opening quarter, as Grant Ressel hit
a 23-yard attempt for Missouri, while Josh Cherry countered with a 47-yarder
Early the second quarter, Missouri went ahead on a 54-yard touchdown pass from
Gabbert to Alexander.
Cherry then hit a 34-yard field goal midway through the second frame.
With just 20 seconds left in the half, Alexander hauled in a 16-yard touchdown
pass from Gabbert, giving Missouri a 17-6 lead at the break.
KSU made it a 17-12 game with a pair of field goals by Cherry in the third
Missouri, however, responded with 43 seconds left in the period, as Alexander
reeled in an 80-yard touchdown pass from Gabbert.
The Tigers put the game in the fourth quarter, when Derrick Washington scored
on runs of four and 13 yards, respectively.
On the day, Missouri amassed 433 total yards and committed no turnovers
compared to three by the Wildcats.
