Stockton, CA (Sports Network) - Phil Martin shot 9-of-17 from the field to score 29 points to push the UC Riverside Highlanders to a 64-57 victory over the Pacific Tigers in a Big West Conference battle at the Alex G. Spanos Center.

Kareem Nitoto contributed 14 points for UC Riverside (7-8, 1-1 Big West) as it won for the fourth time in five outings. Robert Smith dished out nine assists, scored seven points, and pulled down six rebounds in the winning effort.

Trevin Harris and Travis Fulton posted 13 points each for Pacific (4-9, 0-2). Ross Rivera was a spark off the bench with 10 points.

The Highlanders took a 25-22 lead into the intermission after it shot 43.5 percent from the field in the opening period. Pacific shot 43.8 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes, but fell behind due to nine first half turnovers.

The Highlanders led by a comfortable margin for the majority of the second half before a late rally by the Tigers made it 59-57 with 1:10 left to play. UC Riverside scored five unanswered to put it away in the final minute.

The Highlanders made 53.8 percent of their field goal attempts to outscore the Tigers, who shot 39,1 percent from the floor.
