NCAA Game Summary - Seattle at New Mexico State

(Saturday, February 9)

Final Score: New Mexico State 60, Seattle 57

Las Cruces, NM (Sports Network) - Daniel Mullings scored a game-high total of 18 points to help the New Mexico State Aggies hold on for a 60-57 victory over the Seattle Redhawks in a Western Athletic Conference thriller at the Pan American Center.

Sim Bhullar added 14 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks for NMSU (17-8, 11-2 WAC) in the team's 11th consecutive win.

Deshaun Sunderhaus paced Seattle (7-16, 2-11) with 14 points as it dropped a decision for the third game in a row. Chad Rasmussen tallied 12 points on 4- of-8 shooting from the field while Louis Green pulled down eight boards.

The Redhawks opened up the contest with a 12-of-31 performance from the field, but NMSU took a 34-30 lead into halftime after connecting on 35.5 percent of its field goal tries and 10-of-15 at the charity stripe.

The Aggies continued to struggle from the floor after the break as they shot just 31.3 percent. Seattle drained 39.3 percent of its field goal tries in the second half, but it was also outscored, 14-2, at the charity stripe during that time. With NMSU ahead by two points, Bhullar was sent to the free-throw line with just under 30 seconds left. He made the front end of his trip, but the second attempt was off the mark which gave Seattle a chance at a tie. However, Jarell Flora's game-tying attempt from beyond the arc as time expired was off the mark, which granted the decision to NMSU.

Seattle held a 44-34 edge in the rebounding battle, but it was not enough to overcome its 15 turnovers, which the Aggies converted into 12 points.
