Final Score: Chivas USA 1, Portland 1

Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - Erick Torres scored 11 minutes from time on Saturday to rescue a point for Chivas USA in a 1-1 draw with the Portland Timbers at Providence Park.

Coming off a wild 4-4 stalemate against Seattle last week in which the Timbers squandered a two-goal lead, the home side opened the scoring just seven minutes into Saturday's match as Will Johnson was played through via a cheeky pass from Darlington Nagbe and the former RSL man slid home his first goal of the campaign.

Despite falling behind early, the Goats showed resolve in a difficult environment and were rewarded for their hard work with an equalizer in the 79th minute when Leandro Barrera did well to shield the ball from Timbers defender Alvas Powell before flicking a cross into the area for Torres to tap home at the back post.

Portland sent numbers forward looking for a winner as the fourth official's board showed six minutes of stoppage time. The Timbers had one final excellent opportunity as Johnson stepped up to a free kick from just outside the penalty area, but rang his strike off the right post as the clubs were forced to share the spoils.

The result sees Chivas improve to six points from six games, while the Timbers drew for the fourth time this season and are still in search of their first win through six matches.
