GAME NOTES: On Wednesday night, the Xavier Musketeers welcome the Fordham Rams for an Atlantic-10 Conference clash at the Cintas Center.

Fordham most recently suffered its fourth consecutive loss and seventh in the last eight games, falling to La Salle in an 89-53 blowout. With the setback, the Rams are now just 6-18 overall and a dismal 2-7 in league play. This marks the second of a two-game road swing for the Rams before heading back home to face Butler. The team has been missing Chris Gaston for the last six games due to injury.

The Musketeers are coming off a 73-65 win over Duquesne. It was the second win in three games for Xavier after a two-game slump. The Musketeers are 13-9 overall and a decent 6-3 in A-10 play. Xavier is 51-1 at the Cintas Center against A-10 competition since 2007.

Xavier leads the all-time series between these squads 22-3 and has won the last ten meetings including a 67-59 win the last time they met in January of 2012. The Musketeers have won 21 of the last 22 meetings and are 7-0 against the Rams at the Cintas Center.

Against La Salle, just two players scored in double figures for the Rams with Travion Leonard and Jermaine Myers tallying 10 points each. Myers also dished out six assists and was 6-of-6 from the free-throw line. Brandon Frazier leads the team in scoring this season with 15.2 ppg but shoots just 34.6 percent form the field and 29.0 percent from 3-point range. Gaston who has missed 12 games this season and will not play in this one, has averaged 14.0 ppg and 8.1 rpg. Defensively, the Rams allow opponents to score 76.6 ppg, ranking as the 337th scoring defense in the nation with only nine other teams allowing more.

In the win over the Dukes, Travis Taylor posted a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, shooting 5-of-7 from the field. Semaj Christon and Isaiah Philmore scored 16 points each, while Christon dished out eight assists and grabbed seven rebounds. Justin Martin added 15 points and eight rebounds. Christon leads the team with nearly 15 ppg, while Taylor adds 12.0 ppg, shooting 56.5 percent from the field, and 8.3 rpg. The team is strong defensively, holding opponents to 61.5 ppg and 40.8 percent shooting from field. They also outrebound opposing teams by almost five rpg.

Fordham is still yet to earn a win on the road. Xavier is strong at home and should be able to earn the win here.
