NCAA Game Summary - Drexel at Fairfield

Bridgeport, CT (Sports Network) - Derek Needham scored a game-high 20 points, leading four players in double figures, as the Fairfield Stags captured a 69-58 win over the Drexel Dragons in non-conference action at Webster Bank Arena.

Desmond Wade contributed 15 points off the bench for the Stags (7-5), followed by Maurice Barrow and Colin Nickerson with 12 points apiece as the hosts won their third straight outing.

The Dragons (3-7) were led by Damion Lee who tallied 15 points, but he shot just 4-of-15 from the floor as Drexel bowed for the third time in four games. Frantz Massenat contributed 11 points, but he too had trouble from the field as he connected on only two of his nine attempts. Dartaye Ruffin chipped in with 10 points.

Drexel shot just 33.3 percent from the floor in the first half, including 1- of-6 behind the three-point line, yet the team was able to remain within striking distance at the break, trailing by just three points, 28-25.

Fairfield went from hitting on 52.2 percent from the field in the opening frame to converting a sizzling 65.0 percent after intermission to pull away for the double-digit victory.

In a game that featured four ties and 10 lead changes, the Stags survived despite pulling down just a single offensive rebound.
