Dayton promotes Ochs to offensive coordinator
Dayton, OH (Sports Network) - University of Dayton offensive line coach Chris Ochs was named the Flyers' new offensive coordinator on Tuesday.
He has been Dayton's offensive line coach for the last 12 seasons and succeeds Dave Whilding, who retired in December after 35 years on the Flyers staff.
"Chris has been with us for 12 years now, and was part of our transformation from the I-formation offense to the spread," head coach Rick Chamberlin said. "He was a successful quarterback in college (at Capital University) and was an offensive coordinator (at Defiance College) before he came to UD. He has been an integral part of our offensive successes since he came to Dayton and I am looking forward to him guiding our offense."
Chamberlin also announced that former Dayton quarterback Kevin Hoyng will move from tight ends coach to quarterbacks coach, and Kevin McCoy, a former Flyers' defensive back, has been elevated to a full-time position on the staff.
Dayton is coming off a 6-5 campaign. The Flyers have posted winning records in all but one season since the Pioneer Football League formed in 1993.
