NCAA Game Summary - St. Bonaventure at La Salle
(Saturday, March 3)
Final Score: La Salle 71, St. Bonaventure 61
Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Tyreek Duren led all scorers with 21 points, and the La Salle Explorers claimed a 71-61 win over Atlantic 10 foe St. Bonaventure in the regular-season finale for both teams at Tom Gola Arena.
Senior Earl Pettis scored 16 for the Explorers (20-11, 9-7 A-10), who already secured a first-round home game with their most successful season since 1991-92. Pettis also reached 1,000 points for his career in the victory. Teammates Jerrell Wright and Devon White scored 10 apiece for La Salle.
Andrew Nicholson paced St. Bonaventure (17-11, 10-6) with 19 points and eight rebounds, while Demitrius Conger tallied 18 points and nine boards in a losing effort. Despite the loss, the Bonnies have already locked up one of the top four seeds and a first-round bye in the conference tournament.
La Salle raced out to a 38-26 halftime advantage thanks to a red-hot 57.7- percent shooting effort from the floor in the opening frame.
The Bonnies tried to get back into it by launching 12 three-pointers in the second stanza, but they connected on only three of those attempts as La Salle prevailed.
St. Bonaventure was guilty of 19 turnovers for the game. Nicholson reached the 2,000-point mark in the loss.
