Description: Former Carolina Panthers wide receiver Louis Murphy has signed a one-year deal with the New York Giants.
Insight: Murphy won't have much fantasy value in New York unless the team suffers multiple injuries with stars Victor Cruz and Hakeem Nicks taking up most of the targets.

Description: The Raiders have traded wide receiver Louis Murphy to the Carolina Panthers.
Insight: Murphy won't have any fantasy value unless he can ascend Brandon LaFell and David Gettis on Carolina's depth chart, which isn't likely considering both of those receivers know the system already.

Description: Oakland WR Louis Murphy practiced Wednesday for the first time since hurting his groin and hamstring August 1.
Insight: Believe it or not, Murphy might be able to participate in Sunday's game. He was Oakland's best receiver a year ago. Meanwhile, RB Darren McFadden and Michael Bush also practiced Wednesday in an attempt to get back into the flow after taking two days off.

Insight: Can any of the Oakland receivers get healthy? Murphy hasn't even been cleared by doctors to practice. He's targeting a week 4 return, but he should be off the fantasy radar with an emerging Denarius Moore.

Description: Raiders HC Hue Jackson has ruled out WR Louis Murphy for Week 1 after he underwent a "procedure" on his injured hamstring Wednesday. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Murphy has looked like Oakland's best wide receiver in spurts during his first two pro seasons, but this injury knocks him completely off the fantasy radar. Jacoby Ford and Darrius Heyward-Bey appear to be locked in as the Raiders' starters, with rookie Denarius Moore continuing to light up practice. (Chaz Schilens is injured, again.) Murphy has no timetable to return.

Description: Coming off the bye, Raiders WR Louis Murphy is expected to start against the Steelers. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: It will be interesting to see what kind of chemistry Murphy will have with Jason Campbell under center. He isn't a huge fantasy commodity, but Murphy could go right back to being a WR3 again. Bench him until we see what he does.

Description: Raiders WR Louis Murphy (bruised lung) participated in Tuesday's bye-week practice. SOURCE: OAKLAND TRIBUNE
Insight: Murphy is looking like he will have a chance to play Week Eleven against the Steelers. It will be interesting to see if he ends up getting his starting job back after Jacoby Ford's breakout game against the Chiefs on Sunday. Either way, we wouldn't use Murphy as a fantasy option against the Steelers.

Description: Raiders WR Louis Murphy is currently dealing with a bruised lung and is in danger of missing Week Eight against the Seahawks. SOURCE: PRO FOOTBALL TALK
Insight: Like Chaz Schilens, Murphy is another talented receiver who could make a mark in the fantasy world, but just can't stay healthy. He isn't much of an option even if he does play considering he is less than 100 percent.

Description: Raiders WR Louis Murphy (clavicle) has been able to practice this week. SOURCE: OAKLAND TRIBUNE
Insight: Murphy's Week Four stats suffered because he was less than 100 percent, but played anyway. He should be back to a decent flex option against the Chargers.

10/3/2010 7:04:00 PM
Description: Raiders WR Louis Murphy not only blew any chances of a Raiders win this afternoon, he may have seriously injured his shoulder after taking a hit on an apparent catch late in the fourth quarter.
Insight: The Raiders were faced with a 4th and 16 when Bruce Gradkowski appeared to have connected with Murphy for a 17-yard gain. Murphy, however, was hit after making the catch, the ball popped into the air and the ball was picked off. Murphy barely made it off the field, holding his shoulder after taking that hit.

Insight: Murphy should be a solid WR3 against a shaky Texans secondary.

Description: Raiders WR Louis Murphy (clavicle) was clearly not at 100 percent at practice Thursday. SOURCE: OAKLAND TRIBUNE
Insight: Bruce Gradkowski proved to be just what Murphy needed to improve his stats after catching five passes for 119 yards last Sunday against the Cardinals. He has a great matchup against the Texans, so we will update owners on his status Friday.

Description: There is belief that Raiders WR Louis Murphy will lead the team in receiving yards and touchdowns this year. SOURCE: OAKLAND TRIBUNE
Insight: It's not really an "out there" prediction considering Murphy is much more talented than Darrius Heyward-Bey. The former Florida Gator flew under the radar early in the offseason, but is now poised for a breakout year with Chaz Schilens (knee, ankle) sidelined. We wouldn't be surprised if Murphy kept the job when/if Schilens returns. And for those who have tight end Zach Miller, don't fret. The article says that Miller should lead the team in receptions.
