Description: Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports is reporting that former Ravens safety Ed Reed has inked a two-year contract with Houston.
Insight: The Ravens have now lost seven starters from last season's Super Bowl-winning squad. La Canfora speculates that Reed could earn an annual salary of close to $6 million. Reed managed 58 tackles and four picks last season.

1/30/2013 7:49:00 PM
Description: The Boston Herald reports that Baltimore safety Ed Reed could "definitely" picture himself playing for New England head coach Bill Belichick.
Insight: Reed also made headlines by admitting to having lapses in his memory as a result of multiple concussions throughout his career. Reed said earlier this offseason that he'll definitely be back for the 2013 season but he didn't necessarily mean with the Ravens. Sports Illustrated's Peter King pointed out that New England could be a good fit for Reed about a week ago so the idea of Reed playing for the Patriots didn't just come out of left field.

1/27/2013 8:50:00 PM
Description: Peter King from Sports Illustrated believes Ravens safety Ed Reed will test the open market when he becomes a free agent this offseason.
Insight: King mentioned New England as a possible destination for the nine-time Pro Bowler. Reed will be playing in his first Super Bowl next week in Miami.

1/25/2013 8:03:00 PM
Description: When asked if he was considering retirement, Ravens safety Ed Reed responded, "I'll be playing next year. Next question."
Insight: 2013 will be Reed's 12th season in the NFL. Reed tied for the team-lead in interceptions this season with four. Next week's game against the 49ers will mark the 34-year-old's first trip to the Super Bowl.

12/27/2012 9:04:00 PM
Description: Baltimore safety Ed Reed was fined $55,000 for a crushing hit to Giants receiver Victor Cruz in Week 16.
Insight: Reed was suspended and fined $50,000 last month but had the suspension dropped after an appeal. He avoided suspension again but will take another huge hit to his wallet.

11/20/2012 4:04:00 PM
Description: Baltimore safety Ed Reed won his appeal and will not be suspended for Sunday's game against San Diego.
Insight: Reed will instead pay a $50,000 fine. The league disciplined Reed earlier in the week for an illegal hit he made against Steelers receiver Emmanuel Sanders on Sunday Night Football.

11/19/2012 4:16:00 PM
Description: Ravens safety Ed Reed has been suspended for one game by the NFL for repeated safety violations according to NFL.com.
Insight: Reed delivered a huge helmet-to-helmet hit on Steelers wideout Emmanuel Sanders Sunday night in Pittsburgh. Reed has been known for instigating these kinds of collisions over the years but apparently the league has decided that it won't tolerate this recklessness anymore. He'll miss Sunday's matchup against the Chargers.

10/21/2012 10:40:00 AM
Description: Ravens safety Ed Reed should see some action as a punt returner this week against the Texans.
Insight: Usually Lardarius Webb handles the return duties for Baltimore but he's out for the year with a torn ACL. Reed (torn labrum) is struggling with an injury of his own, so we wouldn't expect him to be all that effective in this new role. The 34-year-old has one touchdown on 29 career punt returns.

10/19/2012 9:56:00 PM
Description: Baltimore head coach John Harbaugh doesn't seem overly concerned about the torn labrum in Ed Reed's shoulder. SOURCE: Baltimore Sun
Insight: Harbaugh insists Reed, who has always had a reputation for toughness, will play through the injury. With Ray Lewis and Lardarius Webb already out for the year, the Ravens don't have much of a choice.

9/11/2012 2:21:00 PM
Description: Ravens safety Ed Reed is listed as probable for Sunday's game against Philadelphia. He suffered a hamstring injury in the Monday night game against the Bengals.
Insight: Reed appeared to hurt the leg on his 34-yard interception return for a touchdown which gave the Ravens an insurmountable 34-13 lead. He didn't come back into the game, but they were safely ahead with very little time remaining. He'll be a key to keeping the Eagles passing game under control.

Description: The search for Ravens DB Ed Reed's brother, Brian, has been called off. SOURCE: BALTIMORE SUN
Insight: Brian Reed jumped into the Mississippi River on Friday after being chased by police after allegedly stealing a car. His jacket and shoes were found, but there is belief that he wouldn't have been able to survive in the 42-degree waters. Ed broke down down in a team meeting Saturday, but he will be active against the Chiefs.

Description: The Ravens have activated DB Ed Reed from the PUP. SOURCE: TWITTER
Insight: Reed is still sore, but he's finally able to play after undergoing offseason hip surgery.

9/4/2010 11:01:00 PM
Description: Reed will open the season on the PUP, making him ineligible for the first six weeks.
Insight: Combine that, his other recent injury issues and the fact that Reed is the definitive boom-bust IDP, and you should stay away from him in fantasy. His absence will only hurt the Baltimore team defense as well. (RapidDraft.com)

8/24/2010 10:04:00 PM
Description: Ravens coach John Harbaugh says FS Ed Reed has been "happy" with his recovery from hip surgery so far.
Insight: There?s still no timetable for his return so, even though he feels good about his recovery, his owners should still be concerned about when he will actually be able to make it out on the field. (RapidDraft.com)

8/18/2010 7:09:00 PM
Description: Ravens FS Ed Reed (hip) has been traveling to Atlanta recently to visit his rehab doctor to accelerate the healing process in his surgically repaired hip.
Insight: There have been varying reports on when Reed might be back, but it doesn?t seem like September is a reasonable timeframe. Keep tabs on his recovery as the Baltimore defense is just not the same unit without him there. (RapidDraft.com)

7/27/2010 1:59:00 PM
Description: As expected, Ravens DB Ed Reed (hip) has been placed on the active/Physically Unable to Perform list. SOURCE: BALTIMORE SUN
Insight: Not a shocker. We doubt Reed is ready by Week One, thus landing him on the regular season PUP list for the start of the season.

7/24/2010 5:44:00 PM
Description: Ed Reed claims the Ravens denied him a request for game film a few weeks ago.
Insight: The new rule in the NFL seems to be, if you don't get a contract extension, act like an immature baby. Reed is in danger of sullying his impressive reputation at this point. (sportsbuff.com)

7/24/2010 3:09:00 PM
Description: Ed Reed stated Wednesday that he feels a lack of support from the Ravens, specifically regarding his contract.
Insight: Reed knows he doesn't hold much leverage due to his situation, so he has resorted to being bitter in the press. He would be better served by concentrating on getting healthy. (sportsBuff.com)

7/24/2010 2:56:00 PM
Description: Brad Davis, an adviser and close friend of Ravens FS Ed Reed, denies that Reed's hip surgery will necessarily sideline him through Week 6.
Insight: It's funny because Reed himself seems to believe that the PUP list is where he'll start the season. IDP owners should not count on Reed being ready any time soon. (sportsbuff.com)

7/23/2010 5:52:00 PM
Description: Ravens FS Ed Reed (hip surgery) was noncommittal Wednesday when asked if he'll be ready for Opening Day.
Insight: It's almost a certainty he'll be starting on the PUP list. For the first time ever, Reed may not be sought after at IDP drafts. (SportsBuff.com)
