Renton, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Seattle Seahawks officially signed safety Earl Thomas to a contract extension on Tuesday, making him the highest-paid player at his position.
Multiple media outlets reported Monday that the deal is worth $40 million over four years, with $27.725 million guaranteed.
Thomas had a career-high 105 tackles, five interceptions and nine passes defensed in 16 games last season, leading the "Legion of Boom" Seahawks secondary during the team's first Super Bowl title.
Since being selected by the Seahawks with the 14th overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft, Thomas has started 64 consecutive regular-season games and all seven of Seattle's playoff games.
A three-time Pro-Bowl selection, Thomas has recorded 345 tackles, 15 interceptions and 32 passes defensed during the regular season.
