Jags WR Blackmon issues apology Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - Jacksonville Jaguars rookie wide receiver Justin Blackmon apologized on Wednesday for his actions over the weekend. The former Oklahoma State wide receiver was arrested early Sunday morning in Stillwater after blowing a .24 and .26 on a breathalyzer test, three times the legal limit in Oklahoma. Blackmon pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor aggravated DUI charge on Monday. The fifth overall pick in April's NFL Draft, Blackmon addressed the media at a Wednesday afternoon press conference. Head coach Mike Mularkey and general manager Gene Smith accompanied Blackmon. "First off I want to apologize to Gene and Mr. (Shahid) Khan and coach Mularkey," Blackmon said. "The whole organization, teammates, everyone that my poor judgment brought bad press to. I want to apologize to fans or people that looked up to me. What I did, the decision I made over the weekend, that might be questioning who I am. I just want to apologize for that and let people know that's not who I am, that's not who I'm going to be." It was Blackmon's second run-in with the law after he was arrested in October of 2010 on a DUI complaint while returning home from a Dallas Cowboys game. Blackmon said he does not have a drinking problem. The 22-year-old still has not signed a contract with the Jags. 06/06 14:15:48 ET |
