Description: The Bobcats are using their amnesty clause on Tyrus Thomas. SOURCE: Marc Spears, Yahoo Sports
Insight: Teams have until Friday to place a bid on him, otherwise he'll become a free agent. Thomas had a pitiful season for Charlotte, averaging just 4.8 ppg in 13.8 minutes per contest. He shot just 35.3 percent from the field in 2012-13, his worst percentage in seven NBA seasons.

Description: Charlotte power forward Tyrus Thomas is questionable for Saturday's game against Houston because of a bruised left knee.
Insight: Thomas isn't part of the regular rotation at this point averaging less than 16 minutes per game. There's no reason for him to still be on any fantasy rosters.

Description: Charlotte power forward Tyrus Thomas missed Wednesday's game against the Spurs because of a bruised left knee.
Insight: Thomas has scored a combined four points in his last six games. There's no reason for him to still be on any fantasy rosters.

Description: Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas (calf) will return to action Friday against the Cavaliers.
Insight: Thomas hasn't played since Nov. 17 due to torn muscle in his lower left leg. He was only playing 18 minutes per game prior to his injury but could get more minutes now since Byron Mullens is out. However, it's likely Thomas and Hakim Warrick will split power forward minutes and cancel each other out.

Description: Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas is expected to miss approximately two months due to a second-degree strain of his left calf muscle and a tear of his plantaris muscle. SOURCE: Rick Bonnell, Charlotte Observer
Insight: Thomas is only averaging 18 minutes per game this season so he hasn't been a fantasy factor. Hakim Warrick could step into Thomas' role going forward.
11/7/2012 10:21:00 AM
Description: Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas is questionable for Wednesday's game against Phoenix due to illness.
Insight: The veteran is aiming to have a bounce-back season after feuding with former coach Paul Silas last season, but at the moment, isn't getting enough minutes-per-game to help fantasy owners.
10/23/2012 10:19:00 PM
Description: Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas only had six points and four rebounds in 28 minutes Tuesday in a preseason game against Miami.
Insight: Thomas had 14 points and 16 boards Saturday but he's going to have to prove that wasn't an aberration. The veteran is aiming to have a bounce-back season after feuding with former coach Paul Silas last season. He's reportedly gained back the 20 pounds he lost last season due to stomach ulcers.
10/20/2012 10:34:00 PM
Description: Bobcats forward Tyrus Thomas scored 14 points and had 16 boards in Saturday's preseason game against the Pistons.
Insight: Thomas had an awful season in 2011-12. He feuded with former coach Paul Silas and revealed that he had stomach ulcers prior to training camp that led to a 20-pound weight loss. He wasn't able to gain back the weight until the offseason but he's now bigger and stronger than last season. The Bobcats hope that new coach Mike Dunlap can help Thomas reach his potential.
4/23/2012 8:36:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas was given a flagrant two Monday night for throwing an elbow, resulting in his automatic ejection.
Insight: Did we learn nothing from Metta World Peace? Thomas had no points in his three minutes of action Monday and now he'll be waiting from the league to hear if a suspension is on the way.
4/15/2012 3:58:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas, out the past two games with a knee injury, is expected to play Sunday against the Celtics.
Insight: Now that he has been moved out of the starting lineup, Thomas, who has averaged a measly 15.7 minutes per game in his last three outings, probably won't be much of a factor for Charlotte going forward.
3/28/2012 7:17:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas is inactive tonight against the Timberwolves. Thomas is suffering from elbow bursitis.
Insight: It's been a tough year for Thomas, who is putting up his lowest numbers in scoring and rebounding since 2007-08. Byron Mullens, who has scored 35 points combined in his last two games, will get the start at the four for the Bobcats.
3/25/2011 11:59:00 PM
Description: D.J. White had a nice game with Charlotte being a bit shorthanded with 17 points and six boards in 24 minutes. Tyrus Thomas did not play on Friday.
Insight: If Ty Tom had this type of line chances are people would be running out to go grab him. White could actually hold some value given the lack of bodies around him. Obviously he is only for the deep.

Description: Tyrus Thomas is dealing with a rib injury and had X-rays which came back negative on Thursday. SOURCE: Bobcats PR
Insight: If you haven't cut Thomas in most formats, now is the time. The Cats do play on Monday, so if you're on a bye in a daily and nobody else is out there, it's not completely crazy to hold him until then. Definitely partially crazy though.
3/13/2011 7:02:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas has a couple highlight-reel caliber blocks to finish with three to go with four points and four boards in 23 minutes off the bench on Sunday.
Insight: Yes, four points and four boards is not the type of line that will send you running for the waiver wire, but Thomas played well down the stretch and one could argue that Charlotte could have lost without him. Although he did miss some important free throws, Thomas should still remain owned in deeper formats for his upside.
3/3/2011 9:11:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas took part in non-contact practice on Thursday. SOURCE:
Insight: This is probably your cue to go ahead and grab Ty Tom in weekly or deeper leagues. He will rejoin the team with a very high upside with the dearth of talent at the forward positions. This news also makes Boris Diaw more expendable for those that are torn on whether to cut him for a promising player. Charlotte also has a nice playoff schedule.
1/20/2011 10:16:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas will miss the next eight weeks due to a torn lateral meniscus. The Bobcats played just as the news broke and Nazr Mohammed stepped it up a notch with 15 points, seven boards, and a steal in just 20 minutes.
Insight: A lateral meniscus tear is more rare since it is on the outside and isn't attached to the to a collateral ligament like the medial meniscus (attached to the MCL). Eight weeks is a long time to wait for a guy that is not really a must-start player, so feel free to cut him in the vast majority of leagues. Nazr only played 20 minutes, so it's not really too encouraging. Kwame Brown battled foul trouble and finished with six points and nine boards in 23 minutes. Kwame is probably the better add in very deep leagues.
1/20/2011 5:49:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas will not play on Thursday due to a swollen left knee. SOURCE:
Insight: Kwame Brown picked up some serious slack against the Sixers on Monday due to Thomas being suspension. Go ahead and add Kwame for the night with so few games, but he doesn't look to promising for even short-term consideration.
1/12/2011 10:53:00 PM
Description: Paul Silas took the handcuffs off Tyrus Thomas by allowing him to play 30 minutes and handing in a line of 17 points, 13 boards, and two blocks.
Insight: This is why we love him. If for some reason the Bobcats decide to play him for 30 minutes on regular basis, he could flirt with top-50 value. He should be owned in all leagues.
1/5/2011 11:35:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas showed why he has more upside than most borderline fantasy players with a beautiful line of 21 points, 11 boards, two blocks, and a steal in 36 minutes.
Insight: We are working on the "Free Ty Tom" clothing line. He's been in fantasy jail and it feels like he has a bigger contingent than Nelson Mandela did last century. He is an absolute must-own player and he just needs minutes to be a beast.
12/27/2010 9:14:00 PM
Description: Tyrus Thomas had a block party at home with five blocks to go with 14 points, five boards, and a steal in just 23 minutes.
Insight: This could be the start of a beautiful friendship for Paul Silas and Tyrus. He should have been owned in all leagues coming into tonight, but this is concrete evidence.
