Final Score: Miami 5, San Francisco 0
San Francisco, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Giancarlo Stanton smacked a solo homer and a triple and the Miami Marlins blanked the San Francisco Giants, 5-0, in the third test of a four-game set.
Tom Koehler (4-3) fanned seven and allowed four hits and two walks over seven innings for the Marlins, who have won three of their last four games on the heels of a five-game losing streak.
"They compete, they make it fun and we're in this together," Marlins manager Mike Redmond said.
The Giants loaded the bases against Kevin Slowey in the ninth, but Steve Cishek came on and struck out Tyler Colvin to end the game and notch his ninth save of the season.
Tim Lincecum (3-3) struck out six and surrendered three runs on seven hits and three walks over six frames for San Francisco.
"He had five quick outs and then he got out of sync," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said of Lincecum.
The Marlins opened the scoring with a run in the second. Jarrod Saltalamacchia and Marcell Ozuna worked back-to-back, two-out walks before Adeiny Hechavarria slapped a single into right to bring home Saltalamacchia.
San Francisco stranded a runner at third base in the second and third before Miami added to its advantage after plating two runs in the sixth, one in the seventh and another in the ninth.
Casey McGehee led off the sixth with a double and Garrett Jones followed by cracking a triple into center to bring him home. Saltalamacchia's sacrifice fly into left made it 3-0.
Stanton belted his solo shot just over the wall in center with two outs in the seventh and Jeff Baker's RBI single in the ninth capped the scoring.
Stanton's homer was his 12th of the season ... San Francisco was 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position and left nine men on base, while Miami finished 3- for-8 with RISP.
