Brandon Crawford laced a single to left that scored Sandoval and helped the Giants to a five-run advantage.
Petit didn't allow a hit until Everth Cabrera knocked a single into center to lead off the fourth inning.
Sanchez added a sacifice fly to left in the fifth to account for the final margin.
The Padres were 0-for-2 with runners in scoring position and left just two runners on base ... Reliever Donn Roach collected a double, his first professional hit, in the sixth for San Diego ... Time of game: 2:28.
