Schumacher's condition listed as 'stable' in latest update

(SportsNetwork.com) - Formula One legend Michael Schumacher remains in "stable" condition almost three weeks after his near-fatal skiing accident, his manager, Sabine Kehm, said in a statement released on Friday.

Schumacher, a seven-time F1 world champion and winner of 91 grand prix, has been in a medically-induced coma at Grenoble University Hospital in Grenoble, France since suffering a traumatic brain injury when his head hit a rock during the accident on Dec. 29. The incident occurred at a ski resort in the French Alps.

The 45-year-old Schumacher had been listed in critical condition, but nowhere in Kehm's latest statement did the word "critical" appear. Kehm noted that "Michael's family is very happy and confident with the work of the team of doctors treating Michael, and they trust them completely."

Kehm made another plea to the media not to speculate on Schumacher's condition or treatment.

"Unfortunately I have to repeat that any information regarding Michael's health not coming from the doctors treating him or from his management must be treated as pure speculation," Kehm said.
