GAME NOTES: The Marist Red Foxes try for a third time to pick up their first win of the new season as they challenge the Saint Joseph's Hawks in non- conference action at Hagan Arena in Philadelphia.

Marist, which will not play again in Poughkeepsie until Dec. 6 when it hosts Manhattan in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference action, has already bowed in two outings. The first was a 71-55 setback at Stony Brook last Friday, and then two days later the Red Foxes were turned back in their own building by Elon, 75-48.

As for the Hawks, they tipped off their campaign over the weekend up in Vermont, as they took down the Catamounts by a final of 74-64. Following another home date this weekend versus Creighton, Saint Joseph's heads back out on the road for a three-game set in Orlando as part of the Old Spice Classic.

In terms of the all-time series between these two squads, this game represents the first-ever meeting.

The Red Foxes looked dreadful against Elon a few days back, scoring a mere 16 points in the first half as they shot just 7-of-25 from the floor through the first 20 minutes of action. Marist missed all seven attempts from 3-point range in the period and then proceeded to repeat the feat in the second half as the Foxes ended up shooting just 31.3 percent from the floor overall.

Chavaughn Lewis was responsible for 13 points and Khallid Hart 11, but each of them turned the ball over three times and the team tallied 18 miscues, against just a single assist. In two games, Marist has handed out 11 assists but turned the ball over three times as frequently.

Lewis leads the group in scoring with 13.5 ppg and is one of three players to have knocked down at least one shot from the perimeter where the team has struggled overall at just 14.6 percent (6-of-41).

Ronald Roberts and Langston Galloway led the attack for the Hawks against Vermont as they both dropped in 21 points and combined to shoot 14-of-27 from the floor and 11-of-15 at the free-throw line in the double-digit win. Roberts also pulled down a team-best nine rebounds as the squad managed a 41-28 edge on the glass.

DeAndre Bembry pitched in with 11 points and six boards for the visitors to Patrick Gym in Burlington.

Defensively, Saint Joseph's limited the hosts to only 39.2 percent shooting from the field and 4-of-17 accuracy out on the perimeter.

The Hawks are coming off a season in which they limited opponents to just 41.0 percent shooting from the field and 31.4 percent success from behind the 3- point line.

The Red Foxes are far from an offensive juggernaut, which means as long as Saint Joseph's can refrain from turning the ball over and get good looks at the basket, the home team should pick up the victory.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Saint Joseph's 68, Marist 59
