GAME NOTES: Philadelphia Big 5 rivals Saint Joseph's and Temple are set to tip it off at the Liacouras Center Wednesday night in a rare non-conference game between the longtime foes.

Temple owns an 88-67 lead in the all-time series with Saint Joseph's, with its 88 wins the most against any opponent. This is the first time in 67 years these former Atlantic 10 rivals will meet up in non-conference play, as the Owls became a full member of the American Athletic Conference this year.

Temple returns to the Liacouras Center after four straight road games. The Owls have been idle since notching an 87-66 win over UAB in the Charleston Classic on Nov. 24. It marked their second straight victory since enduring their first three-game losing streak since Dec. 22-29, 2008.

Saint Joseph's has also won two straight as it picked up a 78-66 win over Siena and then a 72-67 triumph over Washington State in last weekend's Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida. The Hawks finished fifth in the tournament and will now kick off a stretch of three straight games against Philadelphia rivals (Villanova, Drexel)

Saint Joseph's trailed Washington State by as many as six with just under six minutes to play in Sunday's contest before going on a 10-0 spurt to turn the tide. Senior forward Ronald Roberts posted a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while DeAndre Bembry and Langston Galloway scored 13 apiece in the victory. Roberts earned a spot on the all-tournament team and was named the A-10 Co-Player of the Week after averaging 20 points, seven rebounds and 1.7 blocks in the Hawks' three games in Orlando. He leads the team with 18.5 points per game and is shooting a healthy 65.2 percent from the floor. A senior as well, Galloway is next in line with 17.2 ppg, while Halil Kanacevic paces the squad in rebounds (7.5), assists (4.5) and blocks (1.5).

Owls' senior Dalton Pepper was named to the Charleston Classic all-tournament team as he scored 22 points in a win over Georgia and then followed it up with a career-high 24 against UAB. Quenton DeCosey was next in line with 18 points against the Blazers, Will Cummings scored 17, and Anthony Lee posted a double- double with 16 points and 11 boards. Cummings has been on a tear of late, as he scored 22 in a first-round loss to Clemson and then hit the game-winning 3- pointer in the final seconds against Georgia. He leads the team with 18.2 ppg on the season and, along with DeCosey (14.7 ppg), has scored in double figures in all six games. Pepper (16.0 ppg, 5.5 rpg) and Lee (13.0 ppg, 9.5 rpg) has also made steady contributions.

The Owls have had the upper hand in this series of late, but it will be interesting to see how sharp they'll be following a rather long layoff. Still, Temple has the edge on paper here with its deeper cast of scorers.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Temple 67, Saint Joseph's 63
