Chicago, IL (SportsNetwork.com) - Kendrick Perry led the way for the Youngstown State Penguins with 23 points, seven assists and five steals as they topped the Illinois-Chicago Flames, 75-62, in a Horizon League matchup at the UIC Pavilion.

Kamren Belin scored 15 points and had seven rebounds to help the Penguins (10-8, 1-2 Horizon) snap a two-game losing streak. DJ Cole and Bobby Hain both scored 12 points for the Penguins, who shot 58.3 percent from the field as a team.

The Flames (5-11, 0-2 Horizon) have now lost their last five games. They were led by Kelsey Barlow who scored 17 points but had six turnovers. Marc Brown scored 14 points but on just 4-of-12 shooting from the floor. Jordan Harks had eight rebounds to help lead the Flames to a 36-26 rebounding advantage.

The first half was closely contested and ended with the Penguins up 37-36 after they shot 65.2 percent from the floor, including 3-of-6 from 3-point range. The Flames shot 50 percent from the floor but took five additional field goal attempts and four additional free-throws to keep the game close.

In the second half the Penguins took control by limiting the Flames to just 25.9 percent from the floor. The Penguins percentage dropped from the first half as well, but they still shot well at 52 percent.

Youngstown State outscored Illinois-Chicago, 21-14, off turnovers and 21-6 from beyond the arc.
