NCAA Game Summary - Portland vs. Bradley

(Friday, December 20)

Final Score: Portland 74, Bradley 53

Las Vegas, NV (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Nicholas scored 18 points and pulled down six rebounds as the Portland Pilots delivered a 74-53 win over the Bradley Braves as part of the South Point Holiday Hoops Classic.

Also scoring in double figures for the Pilots (7-4) were Alec Wintering and Thomas van der Mars with 15 points apiece, the latter adding eight rebounds as the team won for the fourth time in the last five outings.

The Braves (5-6), losers of four in a row and six of the last seven after winning the first four outings of the campaign, were paced by Omari Grier with 17 points, thanks in large part to his perfect 4-of-4 effort behind the 3- point line. Auston Barnes pitched in with 10 points.

Portland shot a brutal 29.0 percent from the field in the first half, including 2-of-11 behind the 3-point line, but the team was still able to build a 28-23 lead at the break. Bradley knocked down a total of just eight field goals through the first 20 minutes.

The Pilots turned the corner in the second half as they made good on an impressive 64.0 percent from the floor, en route to the comfortable win.

Portland, which made all but one of 20 free throws on the night, will now take on Princeton in the next round of this event on Saturday, while Bradley catches Pacific.
