Strasbourg, France (Sports Network) - Alize Cornet went one step further this year, following up her runner-up finish in the 2012 Strasbourg International with a title in 2013.
Cornet fell in last year's final to Francesca Schiavone, but the third-seeded Frenchwoman thrilled the home crowd with a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 victory on Saturday for her third career title and first since last June at Bad Gastein.
Hradecka, the 2009 Strasbourg runner-up, is still trying for her first career title. She is now 0-6 in finals.
"I wasn't thinking about any of my other finals," said Hradecka. "I was really trying my best out there."
The Czech native saved a pair of set points at 4-5 in the first set and broke serve for a 6-5 lead, but Cornet broke back and won the tiebreaker when Hradecka double-faulted at 4-5 and followed with a forehand into the net.
"Everything just turned around from there," Hradecka noted about the double fault.
There was no such drama in a second set that Cornet dominated by winning 24 of the 31 points played.
"It was a very tight first set -- we were both serving very well and we didn't break each other much," said Cornet. "In the tiebreak it came down to just one or two points, and then in the second set it went way faster because everything she had been putting on the lines in the beginning started to go out."
Cornet, now 3-3 all-time in finals, picked up a first prize of $41,000. She will take on Maria Joao Koehler in the first round of the French Open next week, while Hradecka will meet Ashleigh Barty.
