DRAFT ANALYSIS - A very gifted athlete who has returned to form with the California Golden Bears following a devastating injury to his knees which required him to have a couple of major reconstructive surgeries before getting back on the floor this past year...Powe averaged 20.5 points and 10.1 rebounds per game in 2005-06 as he shot close to 50 percent from the field and better than 71 percent at the free-throw line...Was a consensus Second Team All-American selection as he became the first Bear and just the fifth player in Pac-10 history to lead the conference in both scoring and rebounding...Powe is the first Pac-10 performer to average a double-double since 1992, a testament to his determination and willingness to fight back after so much time out of the game...During the Pac-10 Tournament he put on a clinic in the victory over USC with a tourney-record 20 rebounds to go along with his 22 points, not to mention coming up with a career-high and tournament-record 41 points the following night versus Oregon...Clearly Powe has the talent and drive to make an impact in the NBA, but whether teams can look past his medical history is another story.
