GAME NOTES: The Eastern Michigan Eagles pay a visit to Alumni Arena on Saturday afternoon to tip it off against the Buffalo Bulls in Mid-American Conference play.

Eastern Michigan enters the game in search of a third consecutive victory. After notching a 92-54 win over NAIA school Rochester last weekend, the Eagles followed that up with a 56-51 victory at Bowling Green in Wednesday night's MAC opener. Following this tilt, they'll return home to face Western Michigan on Tuesday.

Buffalo has won six of its seven games at Alumni Arena this season. The Bulls bring a three-game winning streak into this contest after opening their MAC schedule with a 67-46 drubbing of Northern Illinois on Wednesday. They could certainly use another win here before hitting the road for three of their next four outings.

UB holds a 10-8 edge in the all-time series with EMU.

The Eagles shot just 34.7 percent from the floor at Bowling Green earlier this week. However, they also forced 16 turnovers and held the Falcons to 30.8- percent shooting. Mike Talley had a team-high 14 points in the victory, while Karrington Ward tallied 13 points and seven rebounds. Defense has been the name of the game for the Green and White to this point, as they have limited foes to 37.3-percent shooting from the floor and 28.8 percent from beyond the arc. They have also forced an average of 16.1 turnovers. Ward leads the Eagles in scoring (14.1 ppg), rebounding (6.0 rpg) and 3-pointers made (18). Raven Lee, a 43-percent shooter from the perimeter (17-of-39) is scoring 11.2 ppg, while Glenn Bryan is averaging 10.3 points and 5.4 boards.

The Eagles have often struggled in the rebounding department, and they'll have their hands full with Bulls forward Javon McCrea, who is averaging just about a double-double with 17.4 points and 9.5 rebounds per tilt. McCrea is efficient near the rim, as evidenced by his 58.4-percent shooting percentage. Joshua Freelove is scoring 12.3 ppg, while Will Regan is putting up 9.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per contest and is shooting 58 percent from the floor. Like their counterpart, the Bulls are also coming off a sound defensive showing as they held Northern Illinois to 27.3-percent shooting and 46 points, the lowest total by a UB opponent since 2011. Regan had a team-high 15 points, while McCrea finished with 14 points, eight rebounds and eight blocks.

These teams are fairly evenly matched, although the Bulls have the size advantage and will be playing on their home floor.
